Where he's at now, though, is a good place. It took a long time and he backslid a lot, but currently he's happy with his body and appearance. He's been growing his hair out again, and he can finally put it up in a ponytail and braid it like his father used to do for him.

He cut his hair very short and covered his body in tattoos in Thavnair, hoping it would help him regain a sense of ownership over his body again. It sort of did. He grew closer to Estinien by discussing these feelings, as this was the only person who could understand him.

After he stabilized, Ambrose hated his body. He didn't feel as if it belonged to him any longer, and could not shake the feeling of a monster living under his skin. Regardless of the reason or cause, he'd still been capable of those thoughts and knew had he turned, he would've followed through.

Shadowbringers was incredibly difficult for Ambrose for many reasons. Not only did he struggle with increased aggression overall and particularly violent thoughts towards the Exarch, he also had strangely affectionate feelings for Emet-Selch that completely unbalanced him the entire time.

Along with his hair changing, he experienced progressively more frightening behavioral changes. He'd known from the start who the Exarch was, and the more Light he held within his body, the more obsessed he became with the man to the point he had thoughts of hurting him near the end.

It affected Ambrose horrifically. His entire appearance gradually changed, the more Light he consumed the less color his hair had until eventually it became stark white. He has crack like scars across his whole body as a result of his soul beginning to splinter. 1/?
