One funny detail in this story: In a letter to supporters of a pro-Bruce Harrell PAC, deputy mayor Tim Burgess warned darkly that if Katie Wilson is elected, tax dollars could go to "fund non-traditional journalism, such as The Stranger and Publicola (sic)". Bring me to my fainting couch!

The funny thing is, we do kinda have a comp here. The incumbent is Cuomo-esque in being an establishment guy vs. a startup progressive with big ideas. But she's not flashy or has Zohran's presence.

Saw someone on TikTok complaining that the Seattle mayoral election is "boring" and how come people don't just emulate Zohran Mamdani? I fear that some of the wrong lessons will be taken away from his cycle by the young folks.

Outland is one of those movies where you start watching it and think, "Am I going to be the one to discover this is actually a secret masterpiece?" but it's not. It doesn't quite have the juice. However, if you've ever wanted to luxuriate in the blue-collar space world of "Alien" more, it's great.
