I’m in England, in a field of Barley. Today, I’m going to collect wild yeast under that tree back there, and I’m going to show how to feed and grow it until it’s ready to bake with. We are going to start at the very beginning, and end at the end.

It didn’t “know” anything. It’s gradient optimization. It goes bad for the same reason the social media algos go bad. Gets more likes.

Today was a pretty special day. I was invited back by the Physics Dept at my alma mater @tcddublin.bsky.social to give a seminar. It went really well and my two favourite Profs were there! Afterwards, we went to lunch together with the lovely third Prof who made the talk happen 😊 #physics 🧪👩‍🔬⚛️
