It was the “I’m going to help you” when I pulled out the readers. Not “let me help you,” just “here’s what up, hon” vibes, from a 12 year old.

Tonight at dinner the Nugget said “I’m going to help you” and picked up my phone, punched in my code (which I did NOT ever tell her), and made all my app icons bigger. It’s really helpful. I’m furious.

It’s an extract from a book tho? It’s not like they commissioned it or it’s the “opinion of the editors.“. 🤷‍♀️ i’m sure I feel very patronized if I was as experienced and accomplished a wildlife viewer and photographer as you, but as someone who’s a recent convert I recognized it!

The first couple of paragraphs are certainly silly, but there is a lot in there that’s really lovely and true about the experience of falling in love with birding.
