So many lies. So many lies! My god.
Good lord this brought tears to my eyes this morning.
Here in Seattle, furloughed NOAA employees were out in the pouring rain cleaning up beaches yesterday, part of a national week of service organized by federal workers who can't do their jobs due to the shutdown.

Story by @heyjohnryan.bsky.social at KUOW, our federally defunded public radio station.
Furloughed feds pick up Seattle beach trash to keep serving the public

Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!
Yes, thank god this is not gone by the wayside. These data are essential.
Wow this is so baffling. What a portrait of incompetence.

Y’all here is a fun fact: Portland has a brand new volunteer organization called “operation inflation” that allows people to borrow inflatable costumes for protests. They just started a couple weeks ago and have like a 160 costume library (and counting because people keep donating).

Experts like: pediatricians, ER nurses, air traffic controllers, earthquake scientists, climate scientists, meteorologists, epidemiologists, gun violence experts, food safety experts and on and on and on.

All the people who keep and care for the safety of others and their broader community.
RFK Jr: We need to stop trusting the experts... Trusting the experts is not a feature of science or democracy, it's a feature of religion and totalitarianism.
Disgusting.
Across the rubicon again and again.

This should be a career ending moment for Mike Davis. May he seek solace in a merciful god who can receive him as a deeply, profoundly broken human being.
Hakeem Jeffries posted pictures of two Rep. Members posing with “Young Republicans” who were part of a racist text thread (as reported by Politico).

In response, Mike Davis (well-connected in Trump World & on the Hill) called Jeffries a “house slave” for George Soros - proving Jeffries’ point.
Thank you so much Jane. We all have loved you and benefited from you presence on this earth.
Duty, Honor, Integrity, Truth: what will you do today to uphold them?

How will you teach your children about what is right and just in this world?

How will you respect yourself and your ancestors in this crucible?
100% The willingness of elite, wealthy people to debase themselves for a paycheck is astounding.
I continue to think that one of the reasons this country is falling apart is the wholesale abandonment of public virtue as a broadly shared aspiration. Or even something people should be embarrassed about if they don’t have it.
Fuckin yikes, man
Praying for a politic that can see one another as simply, elementally children of God. We are not enemies, we are the human family. We are wasting so much capital and energy on fighting and hating one another.

The Department of Energy hired five academics to raise doubts about climate change. 85+ climate experts (organized by @andrewdessler.com) reviewed their report. Our conclusion, detailed in 450 pages of analysis: it is biased, full of errors, and not fit to inform policy making.

On July 29, 2025, the Department of Energy (DOE) published a report from its Climate Working Group (CWG). This report features prominently in the EPA's reconsideration of its 2009 Endangerment Finding...

💯 Also, Hi Shirley ❤️
You can’t control other people, only yourself. And you’ve got to lead with love and not take personally the shortcomings or gaps you perceive in others strategy and communication. Erasure is bad, so are purity tests. In the end, we have to be on each others side.
Y’all, public health and aid distribution are servants of the same goal: helping and protecting people. We can move towards that goal through many different paths, but we are all worse off with lateral contempt and the undermining of parallel strategies. Don’t turn against one another.

Washington fire crews - already operating with fewer resources after the State Legislature cut $60m from its Wildfire Response Account this year - are now suffering border patrol raids.

We all lose when local austerity echoes authoritarianism. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Thanks to you and your colleagues for this work.
Yes. An amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it. And these days it requires a whole lot of heart and courage to boot.
Our comment on the DOE CWG report is done. It tips the scales at 439 pages, approx. 3x longer than the DOE report.
This is related to Brandolini's law: The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it.

Example: refuting one sentence.
