On the first day of school for kids in DC, federal agents in unmarked cars are intimidating families at child care centers.

No one should have to live in this kind of fear.

Vail, CO canceled Danielle's artist residency because of her art linking the struggles of Native American and Palestinian peoples. @acluofcolorado.bsky.social sued and got the town to agree to significant policy changes.

Trump deployed the National Guard and mine-resistant vehicles to clean up DC crime. Now one crashed into a civilian's SUV. The metaphor writes itself. Our latest on the militarized occupation of Washington:

Alligator Alcatraz is cruel and destructive to immigrants, their families, our communities, and our national soul.

It is also destructive to the land and water, plants, animals, fish, and birds near it.

The courts recognize that second group as worth saving, but not the first group.

Trump doesn't care about crime in D.C. — which is at a 30-year low. He's creating another fake "emergency" in an attempt to show force. If he actually cared about keeping the city safe, he wouldn't have stoked insurrectionists to attack the Capitol on Jan 6. Hello?

Two things can be true:

1) The President has legal authority over the D.C. police and the D.C. National Guard that he doesn't have *anywhere else* in the country; &

2) Even if this doesn't set a legal precedent, it sets an ominous *political* precedent for pretextually overriding local government.

Raskin: In any event, if he really cared about public safety in DC… he would not have pardoned 1600 insurrectionists and violent cop beaters on his first day in office.

President Trump is seizing control over DC police in a baseless act of political theater.

It's time to make Washington, DC a state to protect the rights of everyone who lives in our nation's capital.
