Like, I’m sorry but if all or most of your posts are intended to bring bad/ugly/hateful things to my attention, I don’t need that and will unfollow you. Even if I like you. The bad stuff does not need your help to propagate.
Only weak men see “winning” as the point of all things. Weak, pathetic, and lonely men for whom the thrill of victory — in lieu of all else — is their only source of joy.
True confession: When COVID first hit, I went to the store and bought giant cans of beans and peaches.
I’ve decided I want a snow globe from every place I’ve been. So I’m buying a ton of snow globes. This is now a Thing.

relatedly, if you like action novels? read the fucking Illiad. Get a good translation, it's like a goddamn epic action movie. You will not regret reading the Illiad I'm so serious.
i love Stover's read of Anakin as, basically, Achilles-- the nearly immortal warrior brought down by his own fear of death
I read the one before that. Can’t remember the translator. Baller book, though.
As promised, here’s the full video of my trip with @susanarendt.bsky.social to the 2025 State Fair of Texas. Overall, best food showing in years.
Post a film with an excellent soundtrack!
I know what’s wrong with it. Ain’t got no gas in it.
Went to the State Fair of Texas today. Ate lots of fun food. Full video coming soon.
Downgraded my Xbox Live account from Ultimate to Essential. Thanks for making that an easy decision, Microsoft.

I would literally not write without an editor.
repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.
Setting my feelings aside, if GDC is moving away from a professional conference toward a more mainstream gaming adjacent convention, the practicalities are not promising. That area of SF is not a comfortable place. And it’s in one of the most expensive cities in America. Who’s the intended audience?
I have a deep fondness for what used to be GDC. It’s where I proposed to my wife, for one thing. Professionally, too, it was the source of so many great and wonderful things. What it’s becoming baffles and upsets me. And I can only imagine that’s worse for the developers who rely on the show.
Once you can no longer see the icons, it’s time to start pruning.
Yeah, repeating the lightning in the bottle of the Legacy soundtrack seemed improbable. To me it just sounds like more NIN. Which is not bad, but also not special.

This thread highlights a point I have been making for many years: the logic of authoritarianism and the logic of domestic abuse are exactly the same. It is only a difference of scale.
Y'all who keep lecturing protesters to "not give them an excuse" need to pause for a minute. Imagine yourself telling a DV victim, "Be sure not to mouth off or make any mistakes so he won't hit you. Don't give him an excuse! It's what he wants!" That's what you fools sound like.
Nothing would surprise me less than Tron: Ares being mid
I ran into a smoker today and instantly remembered that, back in the wayback, literally everywhere & everyone smelled like cigarette smoke and butts were all over the place. Now is the good time for that reason at least.
Try The Divide series, by JS Dewes. Surprisingly good space opera.
