Gets me out of my head to where I don’t intellectualize my feelings so much, but learn to accept and cope with them.

My therapist is somatic in practice, so a lot of what we do is in the body and then we talk through concrete solutions.

Vaccines DO NOT cause autism.

The Wakefield study (which attempted to draw this conclusion) was retracted everywhere it was published because the physician who led the study was an anti-vax quack it was full of fraud and scientific inconsistencies.

Syphillis WAS NOT injected into people during the Tuskeegee Study.

Medical treatment was WITHHELD from people who contracted it to observe how it affected the body.

Equally as unethical and racist, not as purposely insidious.

Medical racism is a big reason why Black folks avoid the doctor. There are too many bad experiences with racist doctors & it develops distrust. Most of us have tales of medical racism. Then you get into community knowledge of all the times we were medical test subjects historically.

I would love to do doula work full time but it’s so unstable.

Right now, I manage a research study on economic stability and sexual health, but it focuses MUCH more on the econ part and is quickly approaching closeout.

Education and resource generation is what the people need!

An important aspect of advocating for yourself in medical spaces is having the script to do so. Knowing what to say and where to go next. Including having intimate knowledge of your health insurance or options if you are under/uninsured.
