When ICE grabs you, you don’t know where you’re going but it is certain to be a period of incarceration in the US and possibly worse. They have no rights to speak of. They may also be deported to a country where they will be killed. So they run.

Except ICE are not cops. God only knows if the masked people that grab you are even ICE. This is the problem people are facing now.

I think you’re right it is dangerous. I wouldn’t do it but some might want to. Is there a potential defense for them in that they are being grabbed for no reason by people with no badges wearing masks? I don’t know but at that point, they’re charged with assault and they need a defense.

Do people break free and run? They do sometimes. So what should they do if charged with assault for breaking free? This is the issue. Perhaps your view is that they should not run. Should this not be their own choice though? The lack of legality is on ICE. They have no badge and no warrant.

Some ICE videos people break free and run like hell. So people are doing this already. Because ICE often does not have warrants, are not police and they simply grab people off the street. If this person is charged for assault for breaking free, they may need defense. This would be the defense.

The sugggestion is NOT ‘you should fight back’ (People do? They break free? They run?) A solution is it make it legal to try to escape. We should LEGALLY try to make it possible for people to try to escape without the penalty. OK, maybe it won’t work. But people DO try to escape, right?

If men with guns and masks tried to pull me out of my car, I'd fight back. Courts should reject any claims by the government that this is aggression by the person being detained, resisting arrest, or that they're a flight risk.

What if we COMPLETELY FAIL PEOPLE IN EVERY WAY? Think about completely failing people—in history, now, and the future. The penalty for failing people will be to either become a disgusting asshole forever to hide truth in your mind or to live life in guilt and shame. Either way, it’s not worth it.

There’s a through line from ‘freaking about wokeness/cancel culture’ to fascism because the freakout was all about speaking morally laden thoughts and the fascism is about reversing a huge number of basic moral norms like ‘summary execution by a president would be wrong.’

I thought it was a Fresca! Oh, yeah, I used to jog waaaaaay more when I was a smoker. There’s no correlation to that and the drop off in exercise but I would go on long bike rides or runs or hikes then top it all off with a fresh delicious cig.

Saw evidence that a major FL state university is requiring that profs check yes/no if the conference they’re applying for school funding to go to (or their presentation) tries to “divide” people according to race/gender/sex/etc and other similar “criteria.” if they select yes, then no funding

I know it is beside the point because this administration simply wants resegregation but conferences for Black professional associations have always been open to everyone. Typically, the started as a response to white exclusion, and did not replicate that.
