Getting older and grumpier. Fed up by the ongoing decline of my world. So I'll sometimes find it difficult to avoid politics. I do love nature, culture and travel and so that's where I'll probably post most. Photos mostly taken on my phone!

Definitely final preparations being made for hibernation - we've helped out a bit with a hibernation box, lots of food and even collecting leaves for the hog to select from.

Food art at its absolute best - right here in #Edinburgh. Stunning creations matched in quality by the taste. We love our rare visits to Lyla, but don't think our waistlines would cope with more frequent.

I've never managed to get our garden visitors interested in niger seeds. Might try again!
It's great borrowing a dog to take for a walk. Not my furniture it wants to get on when he gets home nice and clean.

Been gathering leaves and eating in equal measure. Good to see this chap has put on some weight in recent couple of weeks -youngster was quite a late developer I think. Now looking well prepared for a comfy hibernation in our box.

I like the coast when it's very grey. Particularly when it's not clear where the sea ends and the sky starts.
A very calm day on the Firth of Forth looking at Bass Rock (just about).

Todays walk resulted in a rather horrible 2 bags of broken glass. All in the inter-tide zone, so quite possibly a danger to swimmers and pets.

Not quite as impressively huge, but supremely bright a few minutes later.
My phone struggled with the intense brightness of the moon in the dark sky

Some churches are unbelievably magnificent. But I think i can understand some of the dynamics of the Reformation. John Knox would not have approved.
The St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valetta is a case of don't judge a book by its cover!

A magnificent piece of engineering.
It's been inconvenient but worth it to preserve the heritage.
Let's hope it stays this way.
Arrivals at #EdinburghAirport are some of the grimest ive experienced anywhere in the world.
The passport control housed in a converted farm warehouse; ridiculous queues for the passport readers; the baggage reclaim being the slowest on the planet...

How new arrivals at Edinburgh Airport could actually get a pleasant welcome (unlike the one I got)
Stephen Jardine describes a late-night delay at Edinburgh Airport and suggests some possible improvements ahead of a revamp of passenger arrivals

It's not a sunset, more a moonrise, but not really either. Just stunning. Captured on a phone.

In travels it occurs to me that all Scots will inevitably say 'this path/stairs would be a nightmare when it rains/there's a frost'.
