What the question of hybrid is really asking is not about color identity, it is about whose game we are playing. And real talk, wizards took commander in-house. The battle, as it were, is over. Does it even matter what we think? When a kid puts a rw hybrid soldier in a mono-w deck, who really cares?

realistically, this is just about a few thousand decks out of the untold millions in circulation running manamorphose, *maybe* rhys, and the companions. this is not at all some kind of upheaval.

but i dont really think that this truly detracts from the identity of EDH as much as you think. this change would affect less than 2% of the available cardpool and i would wager that the smallest fraction of those cards are even played at all.

allowing players to access hybrid mana cards and unbanning jeweled lotus is an entirely unequal comparison. in fact, im not sire why you need to keep making comparisons at all, what specifically about hybrid mana is unhealthy? it seems like its pretty difficult to come up with concrete reasoning.

sure, but phiosophy by definition is mutable and must change to fit those who inhabit that realm. if what the info says is true, many people have been asking for this change. so why should we resist this change? why does it matter if it does change?

deathrite shaman *IS* BG because it has black and green pips in the text box. idk why you think were ignoring a pip, its not about ignoring information on the card... its about a card giving you an option which is not set during the deckbuilding process which may allow for other uses.

it doesnt lose the ability to be cast for green, the debate surrounding whether an off color hybrid mana pip would alter the color identity of a commander decl based on the fact that its an unset characteristic of the card.

well alesha is much different because like gavin said they are not looking at cards which contain mana pips in text boxes like deathrite shaman because that sets her color identity. since aledha has hybrid pips tho she could be in a boros or rakdos deck which from a design perspective, makes sense.
