This is where I've thought our slop hell is going for a while and it's now Meta's stated objective. We are seeing the beginnings of it now. Do you want to go see [the big game] to support [your favorite team]?

Ticketmaster is running this on Facebook now:

New @thebaffler.com cover is making me lol (issue on post-literacy)
That is somehow even more unhinged
Youth sports are wild…you just get to sit there and learn about emotionally abusive adults in real time
Is this what the B4L folks call “inverted”? That whole fast:slow jam was already Don’t Leave Me This Way
Haribo mini packs w/ 5 bears are outrageous
I was noticing that his early vocal delivery sounds much more Appalachian, like Ralph Stanley or even Nimrod Workman at times
Is this a new Goedde rig or a Suwanee special?

Alright last one…

“…the Auditorium Building was the first mixed-use building ever built and the tallest in Chicago when it opened.”

A young Frank Lloyd Wright was a draftsman on it.

One of the first public buildings to use electric bulbs and active cooling (via 15 tons of ice per day!)
re: the “social layout”, upper balcony seats feels like steerage—cramped + 3 floors from a pisser.

…but at the time, this was actually a progressive, “democratic” inclusion. It was built in the wake of the Haymarket affair—the Chicago worker’s revolt that brought you the weekend!
A mix of ballet/opera, political conventions, and pop music in their show history.

One that jumped out was a 2-night Dead run in May ‘77 just a week after Cornell!

Built 1888–so basically 15-25 yrs before most of the other ornate theaters still in commission. The Ryman is 1892, and much more austere by comparison.

It’s not immediately obvious, but you see it most in the materials (a lot of wrought iron!) and the overall layout’s assumptions about society.
Favorite sequence of the night: David’s actual apartment
So kind of them to extend the game til after the shows are over
Beautifully spacious, early Adler & Sullivan design for the evening. Monumental for the Loop. Upper balcony is *high* altitude. The painted (fresco?) frieze over the main stage is the highlight. Have been wanting to check this room out for awhile.
Listen you little chucklefuck

Please check your kid’s Halloween candy tonight. Apparently requests for a synopsis are being hidden in candy bars.
