I had an absolute blast coming up with my list for this one and chatting with Jim, Jenn, and Patrick. TrekRanks homework is always the best homework. What are some of your favorite Games and Gaming References from #StarTrek? 🖖🏻

NEW! From Kal-toh to Kadis-kot to Kotra, we got you covered on the new TrekRanks as we maneuver through the "Top 5 Games and Gaming References" in #StarTrek history! This one is a stone cold TrekRanks classic, so spin the wheel & roll the dice w/your top picks!🎲

Artwork for the 219th episode of TrekRanks featuring the "The Top 5 Games and Gaming References." Images include the TrekRanks logo in the upper left corner and the "Move Along Home" game Chula top center from DS9. Across the middle from left to right are various images of Data (playing 3D chess in "Power Play"), Kirk (playing Fizzbin in "A Piece of the Action") and Naomi Wildman (playing Kadis-kot in "Infinite Regress").

As always, to keep you guessing, remember that the episodes reflected in photos here include some choices that were featured in this episode of TrekRanks, some choices that were maybe mentioned in our "Secondary Systems" section of the show, and some choices that weren't mentioned at all.

With heavy hearts, we share that our dear friend, sister, and fellow podcaster, Subrina Wood of the SyFy Sistas, has passed away after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year. Her laughter, light, and love for fandom will never be forgotten. 💜🖖

When I went to inquire, she handed me all of the stuff unpackaged and open. I was pretty pissed. Accidents happen, but opening mail is wrong. I don’t think he was malicious by it, but actually just an idiot.

They are. The wife is tolerable but the husband is a dope. One time an Amazon package got delivered there on accident and the husband opened it, didn’t recognize the stuff, couldn’t rub two brain cells together to check the package address label, and left it on the counter for her.

The rest of their property is generally in a state of neglect and they don’t mow the property enough and weeds are overgrown everywhere. They are able-bodied but seem to be lazy types. It was a weird thing to confront them about so I shamefully avoided it. I’m glad they finally did the right thing.

I know part of this is a deficit in my dogs’ training, but the fence is their responsibility to fix and it went neglected for years. Once, I was out there by myself and he got free and jumped on back, tearing my shirt and drawing blood as he clawed my back. They did nothing.

It is not easy to restrain two 40 and 50 lb dogs in this situation. Multiple times I had gotten hurt and also had to live in the fear of this gate potentially breaking and allowing the dog to come and attack us.

Every time we would be on the return walk, this dog would be there waiting for us, and start aggressively barking and growling at my dogs (with the looming threat to jump over and attack them). My dogs are normally calm unless he starts it first and that riles them up.

They finally replaced their fence with a sturdy 6 foot tall fence that prevents the dog from seeing us when we are walking by. Due to the layout of the neighborhood, passing their house was unavoidable to get back to mine, and this dog seemed to beg it owners to come out anytime he saw us out there.

I can breathe a sigh of relief today. For the past 3 years, my neighbor’s Bernese mountain dog has terrorized me and my dogs from his yard. The problem was that the neighbors had a 4 foot old rickety fence for this giant dog and several times the gate had broken, leaving the dog able to get free.

I love that they use the "Galaxy" font used for the Star Trek films, DS9, and Voyager for Starfleet Academy.

The same goes for a lot of these reels on Facebook and Instagram that portray situations that would go viral due to their absurdity, but are still believable as something that could happen, and people are just making these things up with AI for clout. I constantly have to check validity

Someone I went to school with has been grinding really hard on her music career and just dropped this killer single for her new upcoming record. She’s been singing as long as I can remember and has always had a hauntingly beautiful voice. Check out Al Olender.

Star Trek generally always helps with that but new stories focused on growing up in a post-Burn world (analogous to post-COVID) will be great to see and I, too, hope it is filled with hope. As a teacher, I’m looking forward to the life lessons they are learning. It’ll be great!

You can definitely do this…I saw Lower Deckers (yes, plural…and they were not together, it was at different times) last time I went.

I like the framing of “Dear Doctor” with Phlox writing to his human colleagues in the medicine field. I also think Archer coming to grips with a really tough decision and the conversations he has with Phlox really help set the “this is who we are” standard. #StarTrekEnterprise

I also watched #StarTrekEnterprise “Dear Doctor.” I particularly like the Phlox and Cutler pairing and Kellie Waymire is great. I also like the early exploration of the ethics behind choices that would inspire the Prime Directive. At times it’s a little too on the nose, but still a great episode.

The addition of the phase canons, and subsequent realization that they are not as strong as they’d hoped, really shines a light on the vulnerabilities of the crew and humbles them in ways that needed to happen in their early journey. Malcolm’s pineapple cake is also a classic. #StarTrekEnterprise

I have had a busy few weeks but I have watched a few more #StarTrekEnterprise episodes. I like what “Silent Enemy” has to offer for its intimidating and creepy foe as well as the “Let’s build the ship while we’re flying it” feel.

#StarTrekDiscovery
It was eight years ago today when this incredible show came to our screens and ushered in a new era of Star Trek. From the Vulcan Hello to Life Itself the series told some amazing stories and pushed the franchise forward in real measurable ways. My love forever, Discovery.
