3) Never walk slower than 18:30 m/mi, or for more than 5 minutes. This is a goal for when all has failed. I can accomplish this even at my worst. But I’ve only ever done it in much worse conditions. This race is flat as a day old glass of Coke. That’s in my favor.
Well, here we are. Ran well despite the 10-15 cat punctures in my leg. Certainly not aiming for much more than 12 per tomorrow. Everything depends on how much time I have left at 15 miles. If it’s 3 hours, I can do it.
What does that mean for me? I honestly don’t know. Hilly or no, 26 miles is a lot for a fat old man like me. But I have to hope for the best, because that’s what I’m in to.
It’s 25 hours until I’m on the road in Ocean City! This will be the second hardest race of my life after last year’s Baltimore marathon. The real question is: how hard will it be. The truth is, Baltimore is MUCH harder than OC due to its brutal hills. OC is flatter overall than my daily course.
Yup, two days to go, and it’s 50 and pouring rain. Weather is about the same in the very flood prone Ocean City. No reason for it to ruin the race. Weather should dry up tomorrow, before we make the three hour drive to the race.
DFRC THREE DAYS TO OCRF Recovery 35min 13:55 2.54 35:09 39-38F, cause screw you I guess.
Anyway, solid jog to 70s funk, now I’m off tomorrow before my Friday spin up run. I’m 200% sure I’ll fail but I won’t fail until I struggle as far as I can.
My fourth book is now on sale! Old Wounds, the third Roamers novel, sees heroes Tanner and Lyxana trying to work out the plans of a group calling themselves The Abandoned.
DFRC FOUR DAYS UNTIL OCRF Recovery 13:15 35min 2.57 35:05 32F
Did what it said, while doing nervous math. The closer I can be to 20 miles at 4 hours, the more ideal the situation is. My goals are 10mi at 2hrs 15 @ 3 As close to 20 as possible @ 4
