As soon as I finished the Desktop Explorer demo, I told everyone at Rogue to play it immediately.

It's fitting that it's Next Fest Week, because I fell in love with this game's original Next Fest demo this summer when @ripefly.bsky.social and I were doing Big Friendly Guide.

Here's my review for the full version of the game.
I loved every one of the too-few minutes I got to spend with Carimara and I can't wait too see what comes from @bastinusrex.bsky.social next.
Carimara is a fantastic — and fantastically creepy — little indie that everyone should play this spooky season.

Who you gonna call? Just a weird little guy.

The final(?) part of Project JASPER is up! It's been quite a journey, and I'm honestly very happy with the (imperfect) results.
It's time for Jeff to figure out how Project JASPER measures up to a console. Come for the results, stay for the Steven Universe references in 2025.

It's wild that I went from a idea designed just to prove a point to a fully working computer in just a couple weeks. And I barely screwed it up.
See? These are the things I wanted to learn in this process.
Good to know. "Pea-sized" is subjective enough that it makes me panic. At some point I have to clean up the wires a bit more, so I'll check it then.
The way you say that makes me think the answer should be that I didn't.
It's finally a computer! And I only had four breakdowns in the process.
It's time for Jeff to actually put all the pieces together in Project JASPER Part 4: Scary Lego.

I mean, I haven't put it together yet, so we'll see! It's not outside the realm of possibilities.
This project is getting ridiculous and I've loved writing it up.
Follow along with part 3 of Jeff's Project JASPER. In this installment, both the budget and the case continue to grow.

IDK man I just think dropping beginner guides with ASCII art fucking rules.

Also: some very helpful tips from @ripefly.bsky.social and myself! Two different perspectives, as Jeff is just starting the game with 1.0 and I've put a ton of time into early access.
Jumping into Hades 2 tonight? We've got some helpful tips for your first few runs and hours!

And, back by popular demand, we've got some incredible art to go with it.

I'm continuing my PC-making journey this week by picking out a processor and graphics card. (Please don't be mean to me about my choices, I've already ordered them and there's no going back now.)
Genuinely, one of my favorite parts of starting Rogue is that it gives the world a place to read more Cass-being-Cass articles like this one. I love this so much.
I am the god king of this trolley car and woe betide any customer foolish enough to challenge my reign www.rogue.site/editorials/t...
A player in Troleu challenges a man in a tracksuit and shades, holding a chicken, to a fist fight. The player has a 3X combo.
I did end up using that *extensively*. I'll get more into that next week.
I am starting a big project to Stick It To The Man™ that will be a multi-part journey of learning (read: failures) and discovery. Follow along and laugh at my mistakes.
Come along with Jeff on his (likely ill-advised) quest to build a cheap, SteamOS gaming PC. Part 1: "Part 1: The unearned confidence of a mediocre white guy" is up now.

Like @rygilliam.bsky.social, I was legitimately sad when the early access demo ended. I just wasn't ready to be done and I can't wait for more.
The Lift is an upcoming puzzle game all about repairing an interdimensional office building.

And we've played the demo.

And that demo rips.

I tried, I really did. But it's time to admit that things just aren't working out between us @teamcherry.bsky.social

This happening at a Valnet owned site is proof that games media cannot continue to exist with 0 mentorship, editorial oversight, general education for new writers.

No writer assigned a review should not understand what an "embargo" is and how to uphold it.

This is just as much on their editor.
