I remember like a decade ago when I almost gave up on art because I just wasn't sure it was even good. Fan art saved me. The enthusiasm of other fans saved me. Looking back, it wasn't /great/ art, but the hundreds of pieces I've drawn since then have all been part of what got me to where I am today.

Sometimes I remember worrying that I was embarrassing when I started sharing my fanart. I fell so hard & so fast for our pirates. Then a pro comic artist I really look up to just out of the blue told me my OFMD stuff was "beautiful work". It was like he knew I needed to hear it right at that moment.

Perfect. Actually, @cheersm3dears.bsky.social and I used to actually go to Vilano Beach occasionally and do just that 😅 Like we'd have proper trauma dumping picnics at sunset and it was very healing actually and I miss it

Goddddd that just made me tear up. I don't know. I have a lot of feelings about this in particular as a very non-physical-intimacy ace person. Why can't those things be every bit as romantic as a kiss would be? They are to me.
