Hi, I think I looked cute yesterday, so I’m giving some to the timeline 🥰
Three pictures of me in various poses, I’m bald, bearded, bespectacled, and tattooed. I’m wearing a cute pink dress that would be scandalously short if not for the blue tropical patterned pants I’ve got on underneath.

And a lovely Saturday to you 🥰😘

Noticing there’s an uptick in articles about veterans committing “disability fraud” and I can’t help but feel this is a precursor to a VA disability purge and when I tell you that there are SO MANY reasons to be afraid of what that could look like at this present moment…
A screenshot of 5 articles, 3 from the Washington Post, all railing about VA fraud.

“New report exposes fraud and abuse in VA disability programs

The Washington Post
VA's disability program is an
'honor system.' These veterans are defrauding it.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Author and filmmaker Justine Bateman on generative AI
"They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, "that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won't know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can't do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat.
People are already doing this. You won't have to process grief, because you'll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it's going to destroy humans, long before there's a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people." - author and filmmaker Justine Bateman from a piece by Emine Saner for the Guardian

The Punisher movie came out in 2004 & was popular with troops in Iraq, w/ a soundtrack single by Drowning Pool who did a big USO tour in Iraq in 05/06, & every base had weird little souvenir shops that had shirts and hats emblazoned w/ Punisher skulls.
We’re forever reckoning w/ the “War on Terror”

You know what radicalised me? Discovering that there is ONE gun shop in Mexico.

One Single Shop.

The cartel guns? They're smuggled in from the USA.

Oh cool, we’re getting openly partisan over in the direct VA communications. Love that, great sign
An email from the VA, the text reads-

“As you may be aware, funding for some government agencies, including portions of the Department of Veterans Affairs, expired at midnight
this morning.
President Trump opposes a lapse in appropriations, and on September 19, the House of Representatives passed, with the Trump Administration's support, a clean continuing resolution to fund the government through November 21. Unfortunately, Democrats are blocking this Continuing Resolution in the U.S.
Senate due to unrelated policy demands.
During the current lapse in funding, the vast majority of VA benefits and services will continue uninterrupted, but the government shutdown is not without consequences to VA. Here is what you need to know:”

I’ve always maintained- it’s maybe not a great Metallica album, but it’s an incredible Lou Reed record. But also, I’m a St Anger defender and think the Load era was the MOST Metallica that Metallica has ever been

Never got to see Cher live, but this Farewell Tour record is fantastic.

I grew up listening to Heart of Stone on cassette in my mom’s car, since picking it up on CD earlier this year it’s now in regular rotation in my car, got me in the nostalgia
