The Times front page from exactly 11 years ago. Those Tory reforms wasted £50B over a decade and ushered in the greatest assault on public health in NHS history. Experts warned them. They refused to listen. That’s why the Tories are done. Labour should take note.

Starmer says he has "full confidence" in Jonathan Powell? That means he'll be gone by the weekend.

ICE has been deployed to *provoke* civilians, not to protect them. They want to throw tear gas canisters and get people on the streets riled up, all to create footage for Fox News and Newsmax, et al., that will be used as a pretext for imposing martial law to lower voting rates in Democratic cities.

When Trump threatens to destroy Antifa remember that he's talking about everyone in America who is not actually fascist – about 70% of the population at the last count.

They had a couple of years to prepare so they could have hit the ground running – instead of stumbling.

Let's just hope that a viable alternative comes along to supplant the Labour Party before the next election.

The very real danger is that everyone will be so fed up with the lack of meaningful progress under Labour that they will indeed plump for Farage. I really hope I'm wrong, but...

An excellent read for all those people who are only just beginning to realise what and who Starmer is (and those still blaming Corbyn)
Also featured are the self-serving grifters of his cabinet, who were complicit in the lies and deception; Reeves, Streeting, Mahmood, Phillipson, Reed and Nandy.

I too voted tactically for the LibDem candidate – he seemed to have the best chance of defeating the Tory and duly did so.

If their 'priority' policies are still not enacted after 15 months in government, you do wonder just how long they expect to be in power. To be fair, their revival of Sure Start, however half-hearted, is a good move, but totally wiped out by permitting above inflation increases in water, energy...

Even though I blinked I did witness the Truss regime; according to the polls I quoted Starmer now has a lower approval rating even than Truss. That's quite an achievement.

To be fair their election campaign was very much "vote for us, we're slightly less shit than the Tories" – and they have almost lived up (down?) to it – which is why they only got 33% of the vote. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

I suggest you pop down to Spec Savers...

Yes he did, and the voters have noticed even if you haven't. That's why his approval ratings have plummeted.

Free school meals is a small gesture towards alleviating the effects of poverty – what the country needs is an attack on the causes of poverty. "More workers' rights" and "more tenants' rights" haven't happened yet and probably never will. All governments increase pensions; only Starmer reduced them

Another Sunak wasn't an option. But the question is which Starmer would we get? the 2020 model when he promised to continue the party's broadly socialist agenda, or the 2024 model which was thoroughly neoliberal. The country hoped for the former, got the latter.

Yes they have. They have said that, apart from rail passenger franchises, they will do nothing about Tory privatisations, they will not end the Right to Buy which has destroyed so much social housing, they are pushing on with the Free Enterprise Zones which will be the ultimate sell-out...
