You are entitled to dislike the Royal Family as individuals or even as a component of our constitution, but denying their value and contribution to our country is not a sensible position

The Royal Family make a huge and unique contribution to the UK in terms of diplomacy, international influence, tourism, trade and social cohesion

To talk about costs without talking about value is missing the point

Most of the Royals work hard and serve our country with great distinction

Our country is in the grip of a catastrophic housing crisis.

Young people and young families in particular are struggling to get on the housing ladder.

Why you do think it is appropriate to shut down planning processes altogether for new housing?

Isn’t this the worst of NIMBYism?

A “progressive” recently shared this with me. I don’t like it

I dislike right wing populism because it “others” immigrants and cultural elites

I also dislike left wing populism, which “others” people due to their economic status

Both are equally nasty perspectives. That is why I am a centrist.

Newcastle says no to fascism.

The far right brought a hundred or so with them, bussed from far and wide. This city turned out 1000s, from local communities, estates and streets. Geordies of all backgrounds coming together and outnumbering the purveyors of hate by some distance.
