💚As an individual we hold so much power.
As a collective we are even stronger.

Think about who benefits from keeping us isolated and silent.

In times of atrocity, destruction and genocide, the courage to act to disrupt, to resist, to disobey is a right and moral responsibility to many.

There was almost one discharge into our waterways every 30 seconds in 2024.

Thousands of people fell sick from contaminated water while our biodiversity is depleted.

💙Our waterways are the arteries and veins of the earth.
If we pollute those waterways, life will die.

I was watching the mainstream news coverage yesterday about the return of the Israeli hostages & the grief & sadness of the families. The suffering of Palestinian families grieving for their missing or dead relatives was barely mentioned. Much of the Western media has dehumanised Palestinians.

Finally, in short: not only have Regal not taken the Wildlife Act seriously, they are proposing 'mitigation' measures that will massively increase the risk of wiping out the population of one of the most endangered species in the country.
5
Regal's revised plan includes creating a new, better path to a pond where the newts live, instead of closing and redirecting access through the nature reserve.
4
Some other highlights:
- no assessment of risks from pollutants, e.g. run off from dust mitigation spraying
- no assessment of the risks from greatly increased footfall to and through the Glebelands from 4000+ new residents
3
Regal completely misrepresented the consultations they have had with the conservation groups and London, Essex and Herts Amphibians and Reptiles Trust (LEHART)
- the development site hold significant land suitable for habitat for the newts, which the application ignores
2
Large population of Great Crested Newts face extinction in North Finchley. Barnet Labour Council in thrall to Regal developers. Conservationists have submitted and shared their final objections to the Great Crested Newts mitigation plans Regal submitted. Some highlights:

There’s more of us than there are of them. They can’t control us. They can’t stop us from voicing our dissent. Thugs and thuggery is not a winning future, even if they think so. See you at No Kings.

People who use money to make money rather than their hands. We need a tax system that works for the many, as someone could have said...:)

Here it comes then. When Rachel said ‘no stand alone wealth tax’ at conference I felt that left wriggle room - it’s crying out to be done, we have enormous numbers of people in poverty and a tax system that takes more from them as a % than from people with an awful lot of money.

Glad to see the govt has extended these vital schemes as farmers were facing a cliff edge at the end of the year.

But what we really need is a long-term farming support scheme that protects nature & supports food production - this should be an urgent priority for govt.
A screenshot of the government's press release. Text reads "Countryside Stewardship extended to support farming and nature
Thousands of farmers will receive extensions to continue restoring nature and farming sustainably, supporting long-term food security."
