I enjoy the absurdity of humanity. Perfect is boring. Things to say about communities, tech, culture, leadership, L&D, and social dynamics. Writing a book titled Control Is for Amateurs. Founder of Engaged Organizations. Prior, The Community Roundtable.

This is the way (handheld blender - they are quite powerful and much more versatile).

Looking through the last few days of news coming out of Chicago is alarming. There is a real escalation - and ICE is making things look like a war zone for optics.

Effing expensive and abusive costs for a photo shoot.

Yeah, that is a tear gas canister being fired toward the retreating couple holding the baby

I like Gov Mills but I think it’s time to step aside. Give younger generations a leadership voice. People want a little more fire.

To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

Los Angeles County officials voted on Tuesday to declare a state of emergency over ongoing federal immigration raids.

Beginning to think this is the best metaphor for life - a series of incremental steps between elevations.

Growth and change are incremental and every small step gives you the option of going up, stalling, or going down.

#FlipThatShit you have 1,000 opportunities today to choose your direction.

🚨 Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago answers this question brilliantly. 1/2
rhappe.bsky.social
ICE is failing to divide us and instead, they are bringing Americans together to defend each other.

May it ever continue.

Thank you Chicago!

Yesterday, ICE was met with a fierce resistance from the neighbors of the Chicago SW side. They were ousted from the streets without taking anyone.

Bailing out Bessent’s billionaire friends on Wall Street from their bad investments is much more important.
rhappe.bsky.social
…but now I am pissed.

And I am re-evaluating everything. And so much of it sucks. And I don’t need it. And it supports all the wrong people.
rhappe.bsky.social
The problem for the billionaires is that, for a long time, I hot sucked into things because they were easy.

And then they started getting incrementally more difficult but I had formed a habit.

They probably could have kept abusing my laziness but then they got greedy and into politics.

rhappe.bsky.social
Seriously.

Has anyone checked on Schumer lately?

Is he alive?

Democrats need to put the same extended media consuming outrage into the Young Republican Nazi chats as Republicans mustered for Biden going for ice cream.

And laundry detergent alone has literally never removed the stank from athletic gear or plush towels.

Why are there 29 kinds of Tide?

Baking soda and vinegar does get that smell out though. Just give me a basic detergent and I’ll add my own extras.

Eshitification gone wild.
rhappe.bsky.social
It feels like not only has capitalism led us to eshitification, the products it produces are much less valuable and useful.

Another example: Vinegar and water work as well, if not better than Windex. It’s literally less than 10¢ to $1.
rhappe.bsky.social
Eshitification has come to casual gaming.

I can’t get to the game itself without closing 6? 7? 8? Pop-ups for other game ads.

I would pay outright for the game but that is not an option.

I just want to zone out for a few minutes… it’s getting harder and harder.

I love the great kids biographies that are out now - great way to expose small children to people and ideas without overwhelming them - and many are fun.

Now she is a sophomore in high school and taking ethics. She apparently asks good philosophical questions, so maybe the book made more of an impact than I thought at the time.

Sounds like you are making your students think too… which is good!

We had this book about Emerson when my daughter was small. I am thankful for him because when we allowed her to name our puppy (with approval) when she was ~6… she kept coming up with snowflake, etc. When she said Emerson, I stopped her and immediately agreed. 🤣

Some ideas for this weekend #NoKings

When the administration and ICE act like clowns, Portland has shown us how the appropriate response is to make it a circus.

🤡🎪🤡🎪🤡
resistrebelrevolt.net
Here's a list of other ways Portland has flipped the narrative on its head, beyond the viral antics of Seth the Frog & his inflatable friends!

tinyurl.com/inflatableport
Other ways that Portland is showing the absurdity of the ICE facility is by…

Crocheting
Having tea parties
Playing bagpipes
Blowing bubbles
Dancing the cha-cha-slide
Paws off Portland dog walk
Hosting a multi-performer drag performance
Having inflatable animals slow dance with each other
Holding donuts on fishing poles to tempt the police
Having an ordained wedding between the Unicorn & Kenny from South Park (for real!)

& — what could become an all-time favorite…
Thousands of half nude & full nude bike riders (IN THE RAIN) riding together to the facility
rhappe.bsky.social
The clear rain ponchos 🤣🤣🤣

We may not protest the way other countries think we should, but you cannot fault the creative expression!
resistrebelrevolt.net
Stay Weird Portland! 🔥 Today Portland had an emergency naked bike ride to the ICE facility. IN THE RAIN.

It was around 50°. Thousands were fully nude, half nude, or wearing costumes.

Portland is VERY dedicated to exposing the absurdities of injustice.

Here are some photos & videos. 🧵👇🏼

California, this November 4th, the whole country is counting on you.

Prop 50 puts our elections back on a level playing field, preserves independent redistricting over the long term, and lets the people decide.

So return your ballot today. Vote yes on 50.
