This photo is a vast, expansive coastal scene, dominated by the dynamic interplay of sea, land, & sky. The perspective is taken from an elevated position, looking north-east along a rugged shoreline. The image is rich in colour & texture, capturing a moment of profound natural beauty. The sky is a canvas of dramatic, swirling clouds in varying shades of grey, white & pink, interspersed with patches of a bright, yet soft, blue. The clouds possess a painterly quality, with their thick, almost three-dimensional forms suggesting an approaching change in weather.
On the left side, a prominent, earthy cliff face rises sharply from the beach, composed of layers of rock, visible in horizontal strata, its surface a mottled palette of ochre, rust, & deeper browns. The top of the cliff is capped with a vibrant green, grassy expanse, dotted with small, hardy plants that cling to the steep slope. At the base of the cliff, a shoreline of large, worn rocks & pebbles gives way to a mixture of wet sand & tidal pools. Further out, two long, stone piers extend from the land, jutting out into the sea. They feature a small, simple lighthouse each end, single white columns marking the entrance to the harbour.
The sea itself is a swirling mosaic of colours, ranging from a pale, sandy green near the shore to a deeper, more profound blue-grey further out. The water appears to be in a state of motion, with gentle waves breaking on the beach, creating streaks of white foam that trace the coastline. The tide seems to be at a low or receding state, revealing a wide stretch of the wet, reflective beach, where a few people can be seen as tiny figures, exploring the exposed rock pools. The piers & the far-off headland create a distinct horizon line, while the sky’s tumultuous clouds suggest a constant, powerful energy that defines this coastal landscape. The overall mood is one of serene yet dramatic beauty, a timeless tableau of the ocean's enduring power and the rugged resilience of the land.

A waterfall falling over several layers of rock, starting as a curtain over a couple of layers then splitting into two horsetails and then bouncing off another layer. There is a grassed rocky outcrop in the foreground with a woman in black clothes standing with a hand on one hip looking at the camera, giving a sense of scale to the falls behind her (very big!)

Good evening #BlueSky🫖 They thought he wouldn’t wake again, they are wrong, DEAD wrong 😳 (Alt for more) Have a great rest of your day friends☺️ #scape #Spooktober #vampire #31DaysOfHalloween #Photography #PhotographyOfBlueSky #EastCoastKin #PhotographersOfBlueSky #Cemetery #Horror #Crypt #AltText
Included with the picture description below is story about Vampires.

The photograph depicts a somber, moody cemetery scene beneath a dim and overcast sky.

Two large, dark yew trees arch overhead, their branches almost touching, forming a natural canopy that casts deep shadows over the path below.

In the center, a narrow stone staircase descends into a long crypt-like trench with bricked walls and small, sealed doorways on either side.

The pathway within the trench is paved with old, weathered stones, and the air seems heavy with silence and age.

Beyond the crypt, rows of grey tombstones and tall, ornate monuments stretch into the distance. A few daffodils bloom brightly beside the steps, their yellow petals a striking contrast against the gloom.

Our picture is finished off with a thin, white border frame. And now our Vampire story

I call this story… The Awakening of Lord Morcant

As the last hues of dusk bled away, silence fell over the graveyard. The air grew colder, pressing close like a shroud. Beneath the earth, in the narrow crypt hidden by yew trees, a sound began, soft, like the cracking of old wood. Then came the scrape of stone.

Lord Morcant stirred. His coffin, sealed in shadow for centuries, trembled as his pale fingers pushed through the splintered lid. He inhaled, slowly, painfully, the scent of damp air and dying flowers. The world had changed, yet the hunger had not.

He rose, his eyes opening to the faint shimmer of moonlight spilling down the stairway above. Dust fell from his cloak as he stepped into the corridor, his boots echoing softly against the stone.

Outside, the graveyard awaited him,an empire of the dead, and tonight, he was its king once more.

As he reached the surface, a whisper of wind swept through the daffodils and with the grace of a shadow slipping from the edge of the night, Lord Morcant left his crypt, walking into the darkness—toward the warm pulse of the living world beyond the iron fence.

Sleep well friends…

#ColorADay #BlueTue #31DaysOfHalloween #AltText #HorrorStory #Clouds #Tuesday
After the photographic description, we have a short story for this evening.

Our photograph shows a hauntingly dramatic sky divided between two worlds of colour & emotion. The lower half is filled with textured clouds illuminated in cold shades of electric blue and silvery white.

Above them looms a heavy blanket of dark golden-brown clouds, thick and ominous, pressing down as if about to smother the light below.

The contrast between the eerie blue glow and the oppressive amber darkness creates an atmosphere of unease, beautiful yet foreboding, like the calm before a supernatural storm.

Our picture is finished off with a thin white border frame. And now for tonight story.

I call this “The Horrors Above”

No one remembered when the sky first began to change. At first, it was only a strange light on the horizon, a shimmer of blue where the stars used to be.

But as days passed, the golden clouds crept in, spreading like rot, blotting out the sun and choking the world beneath.

People whispered that the heavens were alive, that something vast was moving behind the clouds, watching.

Nights became brighter than day, but it was a cold, metallic glow, the kind that made shadows crawl. Radios hissed with static that spoke in fractured voices, and animals fled from the open sky.

Then came the hum. Low, endless, and resonant, vibrating through bone and soil alike. It called to the living, drawing them outside, eyes wide and unblinking, until they disappeared into the light above.

Those who remained learned to hide when the sky began to stir. For in the shifting gold and blue, shapes would sometimes take form, vast outlines of wings and faces too large to comprehend.

The old ones said it was not the end of the world, but the awakening of the one above it.

And when the clouds finally parted, revealing what waited beyond, the world went silent, because every living thing understood that the sky had never belonged to us. It had only been sleeping.

Sleep well friends

Whitby's West Cliff Beach

A person is shown crouching on a wide, sandy beach facing out to sea but staring into the phone in their hand. The figure, dressed in what appears to be a grey or dark suit jacket and trousers with black shoes, is positioned low to the ground near the water's edge, their back slightly turned towards the viewer. Their head is bowed, and they are looking down at photos on their mobile.
The beach itself is a vast expanse of light brown, wet sand, marked with subtle undulations and moisture from the receding waves. The colour of the sand transitions from a darker, saturated brown near the water to a lighter, drier yellowy tone further up the shore.
The ocean occupies the upper half of the frame, its surface a series of parallel, gentle waves. The foamy white crests of these waves create a natural, flowing pattern across the water, their lines running from the left to the right side of the image. The water is a soft, muted tone, reflecting the overcast sky and appearing in shades of light brown, gray, and off-white.
The overall composition is serene and somewhat contemplative, with the solitary figure as the focal point. The image has a soft, muted colour palette, dominated by earthy tones of brown and grey, with the bright white foam of the waves providing contrast. The perspective is from above, looking down at the person and the beach, which emphasises the vastness of the natural environment and the smallness of the human figure within it. The lighting is soft and diffused, indicative of an overcast day. The scene evokes a sense of quiet solitude and introspection.

'Red Admiralty'

I get butterflies when visiting the Yorkshire Dales!

Here's our beautiful friendly tour-guide, putting U in Leyburn

This image shows a Red Admiral butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) perched on a dark, U-shaped letter of a street sign with a hexagonal pattern in the background. The butterfly's wings are spread, revealing its distinct markings.

The butterfly is primarily black with striking orange-red bands across its forewings and along the outer edges of its hindwings.
There are several bright white spots near the tips of the forewings, and small blue spots are visible near the body on the hindwings. The butterfly's body is dark, and its antennae are thin and black with a slight club at the end.
It is a medium-sized butterfly with a wingspan of 64–78 mm.

The butterfly is resting on a black, curved 'U' against a light grey background with a faint, repeating hexagonal grid pattern, possibly a type of reflective material. The strong lighting from the side casts a distinct shadow of the butterfly onto the background. The image is a close-up, focusing on the butterfly and the object it is on, with the rest of the background blurred. The image shows a road sign for the town of Leyburn, England. The sign is mounted on a grey stone wall made of roughly hewn, stacked stones. The sign itself is a white rectangular plate with a black border and rounded corners. The word "LEYBURN" is printed in large, black, sans-serif capital letters across the sign. The surface of the sign has a texture of small, repeating hexagonal patterns. A small, black, red-orange, and white butterfly is perched on the sign near the center, to the right of the letter "Y". In the background, behind the wall, there is lush green foliage, including tree branches and leaves. The sunlight appears to be coming from the top-left, casting a slight shadow on the lower parts of the sign and wall.

Not really an unhinged opinion tbh unless you're truly unhinged. All books are valid whether they're fiction, non-fiction, poetry, graphic, audio, e-books or printed & everyone's personal taste in books is also valid. If a book isn't to your taste that's fine but it will float someone else's boat 😉

Good morning #BlueSky ☕️ & welcome to the forests of Glendalough in Ireland and the golden splendour of Autumn. Have a magical day friends ☺️ #WaterfallWednesday #Photography #EastCoastKin
#PhotographyOfBlueSky #Nature #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBlueSky #Ireland #Glendalough #Forest #Autumn
Our photograph captures a serene yet slightly mystical forest scene bathed entirely in warm golden tones in the forests of Glendalough in Ireland.

A narrow dirt path winds gently through the woods, bordered by large ferns glowing in shades of amber and gold.

Tall trees rise on either side, their trunks dark and textured, contrasting with the radiant foliage.

At the end of the path, a small waterfall cascades down a rocky crevice, its white water gleaming brightly against the surrounding golds and browns.

The light filtering through the canopy gives the whole scene an enchanted autumnal glow, as though the forest itself is lit from within by some hidden, magical warmth.

To finish our picture, it is surrounded by a thin white border frame.
