What's the worst game I ever rolled credits on? Probably the idea that games are products, meant to be reviewed like products. Rolling credits on that was a tough one but every game benefits from it being over. Also Final Fantasy XVI

Am I taking it seriously? I'm not mad about your joke, I assume you like Pokemon and I like Pokemon so I thought we were talking about Pokemon as people who appreciate nonliteral analyses of fiction, I didn't realize this was a hostile interaction until this moment

Like it's kind of handwaving to say "they like it," but Black and White were ultimately about that, and the series as a whole is about Pokemon essentially being animist spirits representing nature and our obligation to shepherd it responsibly

Pokemon Legends Arceus has you physically go to the ranch to withdraw your Pokemon. Also, I think it's very fair to argue the ethics and implications of Pokemon battling, but at least within the fiction, it's compared more to like boxing than cockfighting, and it's more of a sport than animal abuse

I feel like them showing it both in the anime and in the game environment puts it a lot higher up, even if there are scenarios where they might contradict it. It's a lot more improbable that a series predicated on the fact that these are your buddies would just leave 'em to sit inert in a PC
