Being much smaller, Mars lost its magnetic field a long time ago.

Even though it is further from the Sun, over time the solar wind stripped Mars of much of its atmosphere.

But they fail to notice SIX Space Shuttle launches.

Remember even then the US military had satellites looking down to observe the heat plume of missile launches.
