Someone at work described the shitty droids arc of the clone wars as filler and it pissed me off because that whole fucking show is filler. But there are good shit that give us delicious morsels about characters we love and make us fall in love with characters and then there’s the fucking droids arc

there's a lot of difference between "is" and "does"

but a lot of folks seem to want to attribute actions to nature, as tho someone's "is" were immutable

which is really fucking depressing; it gives no opportunity for growth.

Its just so incredibly frustrating that there’s this generational work, that they followed up perfectly with an equally generational work. But there is just this massive shadow hanging over the series because some dipshits wanted to wank off the worst fans ever.

The first argument acknowledges that and comes to a differing conclusion than i do, the second just pretends you can separate people, and art, into two big buckets. Bad and good, and that is a terrible way to look at the world

You end up having a conversation about themes and motif and characters and it leads to a good enriching conversation. The second one if just okay you have the brain of a 13 year old and need to experience more life. Like people are flawed creatures and those flaws lead to interesting art

Like with the first one, i can say something like “i agree with this premise but i feel that the work stands on its own merits its themes resonate with me” while they say “His politics seep into the work and that hurts what the work is trying to say”

This makes sense, i can understand where these people are coming from. The other bad argument is: fukuda is a bad person therefore his art is bad. That feels exceptionally childish and i often see it pretending to be the first argument. Like bad people can make good things that resonate with you

The people who say seed is bad because fukuda sucks confuse me. Like there are two distinct arguments and one of them is fine and understandable and the other is utter bullshit. Fine argument: some of his shittiness is in the work because that is the nature of art and creation thus I don’t like seed
