West Ham will hold on
I don’t post on here that much because the cliche about people here being humourless scolds is often accurate, but the baseball posting here is much, much, much better
Do you want the perspective on the Chauncey Billups style private games from someone who has never been invited to play them? Well do I have a treat for you

Week in Review #32 October 27th - November 2nd
I write about Chauncey Billups and private games

I have spent far too much time being a downer “well actually he was in Low A because the weather in Vancouver and also his signing bonus, not to mention his MiLB salary…”
Ill have you know I went to Blue Sky just to see your Treinen tweet
I know everyone gets old, including RPs, but I still can’t believe he is the same guy who had maybe the best relief season since Gagne

I think Sam’s Substack is the only one I legit read every day (well the six out of seven days it’s published).

Like, the highest praise I can give it is that it makes me want to write about poker again.
Free post: It's Halloween Week on POTD. What's scarier than losing $100k in 3 minutes, how about losing $300k in 3 hours? I did something the average Bluesky user would find even more horrifying, donating money to a billionaire. Read the free post below.

Ugly runouts, stupid bluffs and Talal Shakerchi owning me in today's hand.

From a WPA stand point it would be a better move than many of his the IBBs yesterday
This is why you are the best in the biz

I have been very harsh on John Schneider (bunting, IBBs, bullpen managment), but I also need to say that PH a more contact oriented guy like Lukes for Straw, knowing he would have Barger to replace Davis, was also a very nice move.
Wrote about a cheating scandal embroiling the poker world, before the news about a much bigger cheating scandal dropped. www.puntoftheday.com/p/week-in-re...

I write about Tony "Ren" Lin's ghosting scandal

We have very good season’s tickets that I resold for a lot of money before going to the game in cheap seats with friends.

I regret not keeping the tickets so I could heckle Marlins Man
But the hysteria around "the mafia" as if Tony Soprano and Michael Corleone hatched this scheme with John Gotti is all a little much.
What's described is pretty low tech and has been around for awhile

Every streamed poker games uses RFID cards. There's no reason you can't use them in a private game and signal the information to players in the game.

Invisible ink + sunglasses or contact lenses is also very low tech.
If you are on Blue Sky, you are probabably an ACABer and if you are an ACABer who believes every detail Kash Patel's FBI said in a statement about a gambling ring, I would suggest you be a little more credulous.
If you run a game that cheats people, the suckers are not mobbed up guys who will look for violent revenge. There are lots of crooked poker games and very few poker violent crimes. This is not like the movies
However I also would not be shocked if “mafia run” is an FBI exaggeration of an underground game run by people who commit other crimes
I think the other thing is rich competitive people still like using net worth as a scoreboard and will take stupid risks to get a high score
I am now at the point in my life in poker where I am creating playlists to show Europeans that are 7 years my junior what "good" music is. I also wrote about a poker hand played at a final table with almost $5,000,000 for first.

Then ticket prices slowly taper down until they're selling at or near face value close to game time. "TICKETS LISTED FOR $10K" is a cool headline today, I'd bet the number of tickets that sell for $10k for G1 are in single digits
As someone who is fortunate enough to have season's tickets and has been reselling some Jay's tickets for the playoffs.

I think the concern trolling is a little overblown. Usually what happens is resellers start off by offering crazy high prices, 2-3 impatient whales buy them immediately.
If only someone wrote a newsletter documenting his rise in baseball
