Keon Coleman (0) as the 1 to the top of the screen against press man. Turns the CB around and then separates at the top of his route on the Dig, but pressure heats up Allen and gets him off his spot
proant.bsky.social
They run it again on the very next play from the exact same personnel, alignment, and presentation, and the Falcons shut it down

Real clean rep of Duo from the Bills for a gain of 14
proant.bsky.social
He’s got Ty Johnson on the Rail vs an Edge (17) but doesn’t like it for some reason (maybe 24 influences him). His eyes go the Mesh but that’s right as he’s getting a free runner

Josh Allen checks at the line on 3rd & 8 but the Falcons game up the Bills OL. They show pressure across the line but drop two from the offense’s right & overload the offense’s left + use a stunt. Allen looks to the Rail but comes off it then gets flushed

Khalil Shakir (10) with the ball in his hands is one of the most enjoyable pieces of the Bills offense.

He catches this ball five yards short of the sticks on 3rd down and gets the first down by himself. The stiff arm into the jump cut is NASTY

Good effort & play by Divine Deablo (0) but this is a throw Josh Allen will want back
proant.bsky.social
Also a nice delayed release from Hawes (85) up top as a wide open safety valve
proant.bsky.social
Watch Josh Palmer (5) at the bottom of the screen stem his route to get the CB (21) to widen, and then stab outside to open him up before working to the post. Palmer wins deep here because of his stem work (and because 3 Falcons cover the crosser)

Disguised Coverage is live right now!

After back to back disappointing and lackluster performances/losses from the Buffalo Bills, this episode details several areas they can (and need) to improve on coming out of their bye week

What could’ve been here on this play from Shaq Thompson (45). He reads it the whole way
proant.bsky.social
Phase 1) give Bijan Robinson the ball

Phase 3) profit

I think a good chunk is defenses adjusting.

A small example of this: the Bills love hitting their RBs on the wheel/rail route when they run Mesh Rail. Defenses have been all over it this year. The Bills are kind of getting found out

Bills run defense vs the Falcons + week 5 ranking out of 30 teams

6.6 yards/rush (30th)
4 runs of 10+ yards (21st)
25% stuff rate (6th)
+0.14 EPA/rush (23rd)
89 yards over expected (30th)
1.10 yards b4 contact/rush (18th)
5.50 yards after contact/rush (30th)
proant.bsky.social
Shaq Thompson (45) fending off the climbing RG & making the tackle
proant.bsky.social
That’s a great question and from the film, I can tell you a good chunk is from that
proant.bsky.social
What? Measuring sack avoidance from pressures is a pretty important thing
proant.bsky.social
In 2024 (regular season & playoffs) Josh Allen was sacked 19 times, and had a pressure to sack rate of 9.0%

This year through 6 games he’s been sacked 12 times, and has a pressure to sack rate of 16.4% (3rd highest rate of his career and the highest since 2019)
proant.bsky.social
It definitely is some of that. But when these same things happen no matter who you play, it becomes a you thing
proant.bsky.social
Really good work here from Ed Oliver (91) and AJ Epenesa (57) to squeeze this run down and box Bijan in

*honorable mention to Cole Bishop (24) & Greg Rousseau (50)
proant.bsky.social
Bijan Robinson is awesome

But for the Bills defense: poor run fits, guys not getting off blocks, missed tackles, yards after contact
proant.bsky.social
The Buffalo Bills when targeting RBs

2025: -0.23 EPA/target to RBs (26th)
2024: +0.60 EPA/target to RBs (1st)

2025: 28% Success Rate (31st)
2024: 56.1% Success Rate (3rd)
proant.bsky.social
There’s a larger schematic & personnel conversation to be had here, but James Cook only having 13 targets & 12 receptions this season feels too low considering his skillset + the injuries/questions the Bills have had at WR
proant.bsky.social
The Falcons OL displaces the Bills front for an easy 7 yards on 1st & 15
proant.bsky.social
Could also be looking at more of a rules/situation based coverage too
proant.bsky.social
Also another really unfortunate example of rush and coverage taking turns letting each other down for the Bills. Bosa gets pressure quickly, but the wide open coverage bust gives Penix an easy out
