Active travel is a public health issue.

We really really need politicians at all levels to understand that building decent bike lanes won't just help a few Lycra-clad blokes: it will have a massive impact on people's health long term.

If you spent more time at 30km/h you would learn what it feels like.

Of course, you should be paying attention to the speedo regardless of what the speed limit is.

@tomstaniford.bsky.social hope it goes well tomorrow and that you have as speedy a recovery as feasible.

I don't think you understand: waterproofs keep the rain out, so you're nice and dry.

Yikes! Reeeallly hope the car represented in blue on your diagram had a dashcam.

Possible alternative method... write them on separate pieces of paper. Pin 1 task onto the board. The restart go in a drawer. Once completed, remove the task & replace withnext.

(I have no idea if this would work, but it means there isn't a "list" on display, but you don't have to remember it all.

Interesting. I'm currently on the waiting list for an ADHD assessment, but I can actually aee myself on both sides of the situation as described in that article.

Or just walk (some of) the journey to work or school. Cycle or walk to the local shops instead of driving. Take the stairs instead of the lift. Walk more briskly instead of ambling. Do a 10 minute workout from YouTube in your living room.

There's a teeny tiny bit of me that would be secretly pleased if my e-bike was nicked, so that I could replace it with something with a belt drive.

I can't be washing my bike every evening after work.

A set of waterproofs is still a lot cheaper than running a car.

I can remember my parents' number, both grandmothers' numbers, and my friend's number from when I was growing up.

Now I can also add my parents', husband's and brother's mobile phone numbers.

OK, took me a bit longer than expected to get this finished - but here’s my new-from-old pannier - complete with buttons from my grandma’s button jar!
All reinforced and ready to hold my lock, mending kit & folding crutches.

A very, very pink oilskin pannier clipped onto a black tandem that is covered in unicorn stickers. These aesthetic decisions were not mine! The back of my “new” pink oilskin pannier, showing off the 25-year-old Altura / Rixen & Kaul pannier fixings, still going strong!

I'm also interested in this.

And I love the colour!

Nice "detour", though I always find those plugholes a bit sinister. Husband once walked up the pipe to stand at the bottom of one of them.

We've had some stunning sunsets over the weekend too.

As a blind dude, your images mean nothing to me without an alt-text description. I know it’s a pain & I have zero expectations of you using this #Accessibility tool so thoughtfully provided by #BlueSky but I appreciate every effort. It doesn’t have to be The Great Gatsby but please include me 😎

Coffeeneuring ride number 1 completed today: took the scenic route to work to pick up a latte at the Motore Cafe in Bingham Park.

#coffeeneuring
A covered trailer in a park, with the name "Motore Cafe" and the tagline "You deserve good coffee". There is a bicycle parked beside it, and a queue of people waiting for their drinks. There are lots of trees next to the path. Arty shot of a black flask on a bench, with a bicycle and 1960s building in soft focus in the background. It's sunny. The flask has a sticker on it which says "always be Coffeeneuring"

This morning I delivered my first adult cycle training. He learnt how to do junctions, we got his seat height up, and sussed out his route to work.

That's now one more person travelling to work by e-bike instead of a car.

Woop!

How did it feel?

I'm trying to work out whether the comment about weight through your arms was a compliment or instruction to put more weight through them.

In a recent discussion on FB a woman who was arguing for mandatory helmets said it was because a driver had once driven onto the pavement and over her leg.

I'm not much of a swimmer (partly because the chlorine aggravates my eczema), but I know people find it helpful for all sorts of injuries.

That sounds positive that it isn't actually anything nasty.

I've taken to doing 15 minutes of stretches each morning which definitely help with flexibility and comfort throughout the day.
