Looks like the FLDS is going through it
Meanwhile, a large measles outbreak along the border areas of Arizona and southwestern Utah continues to grow, with Utah now reporting 55 cases this year as of Friday. Nearly all of the cases occurred in people who were unvaccinated. Six people required hospitalization. According to the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, wastewater testing shows that the measles virus is more widespread in the state than previously known. In neighboring Arizona, officials have reported 63 cases so far this year.

For a minute I thought maybe they'd pulled people out to other cities, but I've seen it tick back up quite a bit over the last week

The fact that I can’t immediately tell if a video is AI now actually makes me sick to my stomach. I cannot believe there are people who think this is a good thing

It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap
HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "I'm willing to pay more for quality products if they are made in America, by Americans, who are paid a decent income." The tweet shows Norman Rockwell's "Freedom of Speech" painting, which is often used to show the tweeter is expressing a brave opinion. HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "MINIMUM WAGE JOBS WERE NOT MEANT TO BE A CAREER. Why does no one understand this? Entry level jobs are STEPPING STONES to better jobs. No one wants to work towards that though." HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "Buy $5 gloves instead of $50 ones. Trust me." The tweet shows a box of "Gorilla Grip" gloves. The label on Gorilla Grip gloves show they're made in China.

Ultimately, the death of US manufacturing is about this attitude. It's easy to say "buy american or stfu" because virtue signaling is free. But it's hard to actually sustain a business because many Americans simply don't want to pay what it costs to produce things ethically in this country
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

“Can you explain this gap in your resume?”

Me thinking quickly on my feet to explain the period when I worked for ICE: “I was selling drugs… ,uh, to children.”

Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

I was informed last night of an "anniversary brunch" for one of my partner's coworkers and it turns out to be a vow renewal ceremony with a priest and everything. Luckily I did not go with my first instinct and wear a Hawaiian shirt

A trend I’ve noticed after having watched too many of these despicable ICE arrest videos is when bystanders demand they let detainee go, an officer suggests they’re being picked up for a serious crime to try and deter help. But we know that’s not true of a vast majority of people and the jig is up.

Some good museums, including the one on the SCAD campus. You can try to see each of the squares and also drink from an open container while you do it

I was laid off from an LPHA at the beginning of 2024. We ran out of CARES act funding that was filling the gaps in a state where the right-wing legislature had turned on public health. The siege on state and local agencies in many states began well before Trump II took office

This assumes that state and local public health agencies are well funded. They are not. And the regional disparities are stark, so interstate collaboration will almost certainly drift towards those states that have better resources.

this. and states are already under tremendous additional pressure from other federal cuts (like to medicaid and WIC). most of this federal public health capacity will not be picked back up. generational damage

Finally catching upon GBBO and I gotta say, this season's missing a few key players (Kooky Grandma, Woke Tradesman, Inscrutable Regional Accent) in favor of several copies of Nervous Millenial and Tall Gay

I'm a horticulture student and the greenhouse on campus has a ton of flytraps. It's always fun to see people find out about their actual care requirements -- yeah they just chill in a tray of water which is sometimes outside in February, don't point the hose near them
