I decided to stop fighting it and embrace being a shameless Disney adult.

I swapped out my entire wardrobe with Minnie and Daisy clothes and designer Disney purses. I guess it works because people stop me all the time to compliment me. Like multiple times a day!

Oh gosh, Dana, same back at you!

In a lot of ways getting older has been freeing in a way that was harder as a kid. There’s honestly less pressure to be cool or follow trends. It’s easier just to embrace what you love about yourself 🩷

Most of my life I hated the way I looked. Bad teeth, difficult hair. I hated photos, and looking in the mirror.

Now in my 40s, my hair is lustrous, I finally have pretty teeth, I get so many compliments and I love myself inside & out, even in the hospital!

I wouldn't trade being me for anything!

It's exhausting.

But then, I suppose that's part of the point. Make people too maligned, too tired and ultimately too afraid to engage with society.

It's just impossible.

Trans care is expensive and rarely covered- "Trans people must be rich and upper class!"

Trans people can't get hired and turn to sex work- "Sex fiends, all of them!"

Trans people are constantly demonized in the media- "Why do they insert themselves into every discussion?"

I've had her as a saved search on ebay and have NEVER seen one pop up. Now, thanks to Macy's she's finally here!
