As a photographer I prefer grass fields because you see players covered with grass stains and mud and you see flying clumps of turf; it's more photogenic. But with artificial turf you could also hold regular high school games in Acrisure Stadium and get more use out of the place.

Football teams at all levels play and practice on artificial turf. The latest stuff is not like that rock-hard and abrasive Astroturf I remember in Pitt Stadium. So I don't get the opposition to it. Players get hurt on grass fields too.

ESPN ranks Pitt's 1976 team as the 10th most unlikely National Champion. I would have ranked that Pitt team higher due to dismal records in the late '60s and early '70s. The Panthers were 1-9 from 1966-68 and 1-10 in 1972, the year before the arrival of Johnny Majors.
