Tomorrow, I get to teach the mathematical concept of "rig" (aka "semiring"), and the visions of Diana are already doing my head in.
I have a can of tomatoes, some garlic, and a bag of scotch bonnets. I won't go hungry but I might hurt myself.
Tonight, I shall be cooking with butter beans. But as I do not have any breadcrumbs, I shall not be making chocolate biscuits.

Bertrand Russell to Oswald Mosley. Perfection.
Interim trans-apartheid has been suspended as a spur to long-term trans-apartheid.

EHRC throws a tantrum

‘We’re taking back our interim guidance - so there!’ Said an a spokesperson for the quasi-government agency after blowing a raspberry.

I shall be writing individually but not privately to everyone who agrees to serve on the Programme Committee of ICFP 2026, to make explicit the implicit endorsement of fascism that choice signals.
The location of ICFP 2026 has been announced as Indianapolis. This decision was taken two years ago and is hard to shift. But it has become a bad decision. I am therefore calling for ICFP 2026 to be cancelled, with full compensation for any outlay the blameless Indianapolis locals have incurred.
UK Labour people thinking they have to do trans hate tactically just looks weak.
Gordon McKee thinks he can support Bridget Trans-Apartheid Phillpson for Labour Deputy Leader and that we won't notice.
I saw you in Queen's Park station a few weeks back. I should have stopped to say thanks for being reliably trans positive.

The whole point of human rights law is that the Government can be held to account when they breach people's rights.

If the Home Secretary doesn't like it, that's why she needs to hear it.
Woah! So Labour's position really is, 'telling us off for breaching human rights undermines the case for human rights'? Proper Trumpian stuff from Labour's answer to Suella Braverman.

Read my two letters to the #UK:
1. Protests: I call for a review of the legal framework and the reconsideration of provisions in the Crime & Policing Bill that could restrict freedom of assembly.
2. Trans people: I warn against exclusion&zero-sum approaches

Shabana Mahmood says "If this is what Human Rights means, we don't want 'em.".

As a Northern Irish trans person, she is preparing a very special Hell for me. I may consider how to reciprocate.

Gissa shout if it doesn't work out. It's in my archive.
One of the things dumped in Beaufort's Dyke is an alien spaceship whose occupants project to this day a perception filter preventing clues travelling east and time travelling west.
I gather Shabana Mahmood has announced that immigrants will have to know where Beaufort's Dyke is and what has been dumped in it. To be frank, the UK authorities would like to know.
Just checking you've seen Look and Read's Joe and the Sheep Rustlers, because that's a wild Paddy Kingsland overdose if ever you need one.
When is Doctor Who coming out on ADHD?
I'm watching Wilfred Greatorex television. It's so fash it's scary.
I have only one thing to say. And that's 0131 652 0405.
If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
