94 tries often to cross face vs counter. That helps make up for the fact that he didn’t anchor super well vs the down block.

They might need to have both DTs start crossing face on counter/down blocks more often.

Minor point: JD when in doesn’t anchor vs it as well as last yr due to weight loss.

The good news is one of those guys just retired (thank god). The other slightly less good but maybe ok news is 94 might not have been on the field for that play if JC playing.

They aren’t as good vs counter this yr, but having 52/94 in there makes it xtra.

DeJean nice job reading the play.

I’ve been saying this since week 1.

And i was not an alarmist on offense at all, the entire 2024. They simply can’t show up and win like they did last year. They have to be smarter. So far they are less smart. And that does not bode well.

Hmmmm I will give you one gently used AJ for Christian Gonzalez and Boutte.

Once they decided to play less ultra conservative, the Steelers game, the O was pretty good expect for GB and the snow portion vs Rams. Scored most points in postseason history.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
The O wasn’t as smooth as w/Steichen. But I do kind of think Moore figured it largely out.

I think that meeting with the OLine early in the season where they decided to pound roc and avoid TOs took a chunk of the O out of Moore’s hands.

Moore I always only felt was solid, not amazing. But i was thrilled he was here because he would

1) teach Jalen to beat blitz
2) introduce a few pro style short passing game concepts to avoid constant yolo ball
3) get TE involved
4) good in run game, counterbalancing Stout’s zone tendencies
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Taylor’s coverage snaps where he’s getting beat up…is that from nickel? Because in outside man he looks pretty solid on tape.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I’m thinking since undersized and is viewed more as a nickel, the price might be reasonable. The eagles have 6 picks in the middle, three in round 3 and three in round 4. I’d start offering a 5th and come down to our 2nd best 3rd round pick at 11th hour if no other options.

Still have to watch Riq.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Started watching Riq when i can. First 10 snaps were all zone. Uggh. Will try later. Watched more of alontae taylor. He would upgrade us. He’s my top trade target atm.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Maybe. The drawing doubles thing pertains more to the pass than run game. Carter has been available for some games where we’ve been hurt in these fronts too. The league has figured them out a bit and Vic is not adjusting.

He def would have been better than 94 this particular play though.

Outside of 2/3 of one season, I would take Hurts from 22, 23, 24 or 25 over Wentz. For most of their prime years they aren’t even a same tier player. Comparing them like that feels insane to me.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Jordan Davis in overtime came up pretty big that game. There were a handful of fun ones, even though the team was a bit uneven.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
If 1/2 or less of the philly only fans choose the Hurts wagon, let them have their guy. They earned it at this point after constant Hurts doubt. It prob won’t change how the team approaches it at all.

The reality is the vast majority of media analysts don’t have a clue which QB wagon to hitch onto.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
The sports media locally are more tough on Hurts than Wentz at this stage by a country mile. If he hadn’t won a Bowl, it would be at a fever pitch. A rather vociferous portion of the fanbase (most of them prior wentz wagoners) have no issue ripping Hurts. Nationally media and fans shit on him.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
If it was only just an occasional blown assignment, maybe ok. But it’s the same repetitive issue no matter what is the coverage call that’s grinding my gears. As soon as the QB starts to escape the pocket, he stops covering his guy as if NFL QBs don’t find wide open guys and hit them on the move.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Metchie has been solid as a quasi big slot, backfield type. I would expand upon that. We are better off with him than a non-Goedert TE. Rpo, RO, Pony, a little GO GO. Cheap manufactured yards.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I don’t need it to totally look pro style so long as it can score points and is somewhat balanced. But with qb run and RPO both barely in the offense, it makes u wonder what they are doing.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Like were they punishing him for something? My goodness. Glad he didn’t get hurt.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I’m still wondering what Smitty’s purpose is on this play.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I noticed a couple times earlier in the season them smartly using AJ to decoy a TE open for an easy completion. So yeah I think that’s what this was.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I could be wrong. But that felt like a feeble pre planned attempt to get Barkley a TD in New York.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
It’s more than one thing. I do think one part of it that everyone is missing is that AJ is just good and no longer a cheat code that deodorizes the offense. Maybe it will come back when more healthy. Maybe it won’t.
