Today is the centenary of the birth of the great Tony Hart who opened the eyes of generations to visual art and who is forever associated with this, the shimmering Gallery theme from Vision On – which was also pretty much everyone’s introduction to the vibraphone. youtu.be/-ZNkJXKV7_w

Why do I think the companion volume for @hookland.bsky.social would turn out rather different, as the down below and Marsh apes would see an opportunity to sow mayhem

Hi, niche question for academic pals: does anyone have contact details for Professor Sam Smiles, please?
I need to ask for his help (pretty promptly) in relation to Practises Make Places.
If anyone can help, please DM me. I’d be immensely grateful 🙂

The Hexham Hoard was discovered in the abbey grounds by the sexton and his assistant while digging a grave #OTD in 1832. Some 8,000 Northumbrian coins of the C9th were found preserved in a bronze bucket of the same period. 📸British Museum #medievalsky

I remember being taken round there by Billy O'Brien in 2017.

He said it was the largest dolmen IN THE UNIVERSE

I enjoyed making Fr Ted images:

This dolmen is the largest on the universe....this dolmen is very far away...

Archaeology is like this, but leaving out the edges and most of the middle. When anyone points this out there is this universal gesture of head tilt, slight shrug, wave of hands and utterance of it being all ritual as an answer for everything

This is the complete scene, with the animals.

A winter scene with a fox and a hare running across the scene. There are rows of houses, cottages, a river with a bridge, fences, paths and trees.

"I wanted to write about Shropshire for a long time. And because I was living there from a very young age, I felt so strongly and so sensitively about just the place itself, the nature of it. The forests, the landscapes, the nature of light there, and the animals."

Check out these ancient finds 👀

Pictured here are a Roman ring key, military helmet stud and incense bowl shard. They're just some of the artefacts unearthed on excavation and metal detecting surveys at Attingham Park in Shropshire.
A close-up of a hand holding a Roman ring key. They key section of the ring is square and like a belt buckle in shape. A close-up of a hand holding a round stud that would once have been attached to a Roman military helmet. A close-up of a hand holding a ceramic shard in its palm. The shard shows lines of frilly decoration.
