Protein is definitely overhyped to the general population, but getting more in concert with fitness activities has been hugely beneficial for me me really and I’d hate to see the baby thrown out with the bath water because some cheap trashy protein brands sell garbage.

You don’t need to use protein powders. They’re really great and helpful if you are doing resistance training and want to build muscle, and there is plenty of evidence about how much to take and what works. It’s also important to get the majority from whole foods.

There are a lot of protein companies who suck. There are also plenty who do heavy metal testing and provide this information. I use Amazonia Raw (which has a section on their site about this topic)
