I get what you're saying, but both series still have the humans turning into Digimon. But with Frontiers, there wasn't extra time needed to develop 5 other characters + fleshin out their bonds

NGL, due to watching Digimon Tamers, I now find the fact that Digimon Fontier have their protagonists turn into Digimon without giving them Digimon partners to be a pretty lazy decision as the fusions in Tamers are meant to symbolize the bond and growth between the human and Digimon.
