BECCS — attempting to capture CO₂ from biomass-burning plants and storing it underground — is the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technique that has sold the most credits. But its climate benefits may be overstated, it could incentivize deforestation, and the carbon accounting might be distorted.

I believe that China purposefully not buying our Soybeans, and causing difficulty for our Soybean Farmers, is an Economically Hostile Act. We are considering terminating business with China having to do with Cooking Oil, and other elements of Trade, as retribution. As an example, we can easily produce Cooking Oil ourselves, we don’t need to purchase it from China.

There are many days where if it weren't for this grade school technology from the early 2000s, I would get zero words written instead of (for example) today's 2,368.

the 80% stat is the one I mean to be flagging, but funny to have been out of the health policy game so long that I missed when "Obamacare" started to refer to just the exchange part of ACA, rather than the whole enchilada

These subsidies, known as enhanced premium tax credits, lower costs
for people who buy their health insurance through Affordable Care Act
(ACA) marketplaces (sometimes called Obamacare). They are at the
heart of a weeks-long standoff that has shuttered the federal
government since October 1. About 80 percent of the people who benefit
from them live in states that Donald Trump won in the 2024
presidential election. Many have no idea that their health insurance
costs are on track to go up.

Learned that UW–Madison has a university site license to NYT---one that includes Cooking and The Athletic. So I finally canceled my personal subscription and then used my UW email to get free access here: www.nytimes.com/activate-acc...
