This is what I am thinking. They won’t open it up. When do we stop paying them?
Shame on her for having 0 empathy.
Shame on the lady customer at Aldi , when I said I was buying for the airport food pantry, they should just get a second job. I told her these people have to come in and aren’t getting paid. What are they supposed to do? She was silent then said, they’ll get paid eventually.
I heard stories of employees crying because it’s down to buying gas to get to work or food. Even if the shutdown ends today, it takes a couple of weeks to get the back pay.
Found a great mutual aid to help essential federal workers at Roanoke Airport. They have a pantry where they will take public donations near baggage claim 2. I shopped at a nearby Aldi and got a bagful of food that I could carry into the terminal.

🚨🗳️VIRGINIA UNRETURNED MAIL BALLOTS🗳️🚨

10/22/25 Update (estimates):

Requested - 449,937
Returned - 232,620
Outstanding - 217,317

Some of these mail ballots may end up being cast in-person. But many won't, and they'll be overwhelmingly Dem votes that decide very close races. We need every last one.

Republican led US House has been in recess for 32 consecutive days.

US Representatives receive a taxpayer funded salary of $174,000.

Since the start of the Republican led 119th Congress, the House has been out-of-session 188/292 days (64% out-of-session).
First shot was ok for me, second one was the hard one.
The cutting down of 200+ year old trees for the ballroom affected me as well.
This past summer I worked on identifying local food producers and going to them. Went to many different farmers markets, stands, orchards. I found a possible CSA for next year, found a hydroponic lettuce grower. I’ve canned, made jam, chutney, chili sauce, pickles, sauerkraut. Shortages possible.
I’ve been only shopping for essentials and buying or eating out local. Going to the library and checking out and reading books every 2 weeks.

Cannot recommend enough the act of walking into a library when the world is grim. If you can, go walk into a library

This is what solid team play looks like; a billboard funded by grassroots Dem donors, from all over the country, is up and being seen in rural Va. HD 44, supporting Cindy Green & the 3 Va. statewide candidates, Spanberger, Hashmi, & Jones. Thanks @charlesgaba.com.

Even at food Lion, I see Oj can go from $2.99 to $3.30. Propane canister went to $7.30. Found it at Cabelas for over a dollar less.
I just made 4 pounds of granola. Once you buy some of the ingredients, you can use in multiple batches.
Thanks for understanding. Ive been trying to be more balanced. Still volunteering, but allowing myself time to rest and enjoy nature. Ten years of resistance is a long time.
Thank you. I’ve been volunteering for VA elections, but was exhausted after a trip for a medical appointment. I’ve been to previous Kings, hands off, and women’s marches, but needed some rest.
I had a frozen shoulder for several months. I finally started eating a lot of pickled garlic and pickled ginger and doing range of motion PT. In about 2-3 weeks I noticed a change, and was discharged from PT. Garlic/Ginger are anti-inflammatory. Avoided surgery.
And I let them know they are not alone and there are other Dems on their street!
I’ve been out canvassing Sat and today and it really makes me feel good. Talking with real people and helping them to vote. One lady is going through a tough situation with her husbands health. Glad I was there to listen to her.
Another great thing about canvassing is that I can pass back issues to the campaigns. I also passed this feedback to the school board candidate as well.
Voter registration deadline: Friday, October 24, 2025. After that date, you can still go to early voting location or at your regular polling place, but you will be casting a provisional ballot. Be ready to have your “cure” the ballot if any issues are found.
If you want to mail in your ballot, do it soon, or better yet, take it to the drop box at your early voting location.
