As you might expect, an accessibility-driven organization like Equal Access Public Media (@equalaccesspublicmedia.org) needs funding to make all of these great things possible. The fall fund drive is going on now, and donations can help Equal Access Public Media meet its goals.
Accessibility, diversity, and inclusion are under attack. So is journalism. Support the only U.S. organization that makes its mission all about accessibility in journalism. During our fall fund drive, help us raise $1,500.

Among the many cool things that Equal Access Public Media (@equalaccesspublicmedia.org) does is their Style and Accessibility Guide! It is a thorough and robust resource. It's free, and open to all in media — and beyond — to use.

Equal Access Public Media (@equalaccesspublicmedia.org) is also working to open the journalism industry to reporters who find themselves left out because of disability, chronic illness, injuries or illness as a result from serving in the military, or those who serve as caregivers.

What you've missed if you aren't reading The Word:
• Accessibility as journalism's overlooked key to public trust
• Analysis of how the Pentagon's policy already started affecting reporters' work
• The progress media has and hasn't made on women's health issues.
The Word, a magazine from the EAPM Style and Accessibility Guide
What's happening in journalism? What's important in style and accessibility? We've got The Word on all that and more.

#A11y is another great hashtag to find accessibility-related resources.

Besides using #accesibilidad to find accessibility-related content in Spanish and #accessibilité to find accessibility-related content in French, what are your go-to hashtags to find non-English content on accessibility?
The hashtag #accessibility allows you to find lots of accessibility-related resources on Twitter and LinkedIn. To find accessibility resources in Spanish, use the hashtag #accesibilidad. The hashtag #accessibilité helps you find resources in French.

A few notes about this article:
1. Done by a cub reporter. And as his editor, I think it turned out great.
2. If ever there was an article that exemplified The Word, this is it.
3. Great sources.
I was grateful to get to talk about one of my biggest passions: the intersection of journalism and accessibility! Thanks, @equalaccesspublicmedia.org! And shout-out to @trustingnews.bsky.social, who is is mentioned in this!

I still remember my grandmother's phone number. She died in 1998.

I still remember a friend's family house number. They got rid of their landline years ago.

I still remember the number to the Olivette Imo's Pizza, which I have had committed to memory for about two-thirds of my life.
If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
Today wraps up @ire.org's AccessFest. I'm grateful for getting to present with James Ku on Thursday, and again today with @stacykess.bsky.social and Sam Evans. Each focused on what journalists can start doing to make their work more accessible to people with disabilities. #AccessFest25 #AccessFest

Looking forward to seeing this St. Louis-centric movie that takes place in a lot of familiar places. Including a diner that makes great slingers!

Hey @ire.org #AccessFest25 peeps. Attend Digital Accessibility Basics Saturday with @patrickmgarvin.bsky.social, Samantha Evans, and me. It'll be the best panel ever.

Why?
1. Accessibility.
2. I did the slides, so it's badass.
3. The 3 people I mentioned above.

I lasted until the episode when they had the Gabby Giffords shooting. I can't even remember what it was that they did that annoyed me, but I couldn't help saying, "That's not how WE did it!" Or something like that.

I read a post where someone said they could imagine Aaron Sorkin writing "Let's do the fucking news," and, yes, yes, that encapsulates why this makes me want to hurl things into the sun.
Bari Weiss introduced herself to CBS News staff today on the network's 9AM call, saying she wants to "win," which requires restoring trust to CBS. She also said she was excited for staff to get to know the Free Press, and ended her remarks by saying: "Let's do the fucking news."
