Well 20 years ago many people believed UN could be an important cog in the machinery of international relations. Now this belief is evaporating fast.

It never worked as intended versus those with veto rights in security council, though. That had been clear for a long time. That is by design.

Egypt has a lot of criminal behavior though, but the cops there don’t investigate it so it never gets into the stats. Basically everyone I know who has spent some time there and moved outside the typical tourist zones has experienced some really unpleasant or dangerous encounters.
