And we will continue getting more Trumps, more Hawleys, more Johnsons and Cruzs until whites collectively decide to Stop. Choosing. Whiteness.

Because the way things are, whites will vote for a pile of offal in an ill-fitting suit if it promises to keep the systemic racialized hierarchy intact.

Fellow millennials! Remember cold Halloweens? Arguing with parents about a coat with your trick-or-treating costume?

Never again.

This strikes me as a really palpable example of the climate shift, over even our relatively short lifetimes.

Thanks, white Boomers—you really set us up for success.

Pssst... hey... fellow white people

We don't get to say "Let's not make this about race"

We literally made everything about race
From the get go

That is literally why this conversation is happening

Because we made marriage, education, voting, policing about race

for CENTURIES

Fix it or shhhh

No, we have to fight fascists because 74% of whites chose white supremacist fascism in 2024 and faced largely zero social consequences for doing so.
patmch51.bsky.social
We are both in the comments of a Black woman who has spelled out the answer in pretty explicit detail for you.
patmch51.bsky.social
No. Black Civil Rights activists fought and bled and died for the rights they won and the progress they made. You showed up for a march.

Don't forget, we're having this discussion because you couldn't be respectful in a Black woman's comments. You're no MLK.
patmch51.bsky.social
You seem very confused about how the past several decades have played out.

Suffice it to say, it has not been "going on."
patmch51.bsky.social
No no. Racism isn't something that you throw into a list of etcs. White supremacy is the whole ball game.

You people are so fucking frustrating. I don't want this whole thing to burn to the ground. The only way we survive is by collectively choosing to reject whiteness.

Fucking figure it out.

genocide of people will continue to happen if the genocide of animal life, sea life, and plant life continues as well.

we are interconnected. exterminating life is exterminating life.

we cannot fix one without fixing the other.

start by lessening the harm of your current extermination.

There is no future worth building that has a place for white supremacists. Better we perish then continue this cycle of blood and misery another 250 years.
patmch51.bsky.social
What you suggest is in fact the original sin of America. The Continental Congress intentionally removed a condemnation of the slave trade from the Declaration of Independence in order to secure the votes of southern delegates. And look how well that fucking turned out.
patmch51.bsky.social
I would like you to take a moment and really think about what you said. Why do you think you know better than Black women on the subject of racial justice?
patmch51.bsky.social
We know that 74% of whites either voted for the white supremacist regime (55%) or enabled it via inaction (19%).

Their allegiance to white supremacy remains the issue. Deprogram it, and you'll see the turnout stats you want.
patmch51.bsky.social
Deprogramming white supremacy can often feel difficult, uncomfortable, and unrewarding in the moment. Nonetheless, it's entirely necessary.
patmch51.bsky.social
"They are all intractable, it's a turnout game" is the losing strategy that has gotten us to our current predicament. Either whites can be convinced to stop upholding whiteness or we'll perish. There is no pathway forward that avoids all of us actively and intentionally confronting white supremacy.
patmch51.bsky.social
This wasn't an invitation for you to disagree or talk over her.

If whites faced consistent, affirmative social consequences in the moment for their white supremacy (not just folks going no-contact, but actually confronting them about it, you'd be shocked how quickly the needle would move.

White people need to talk to other white people. It is entirely up to the whites to move the needle on their end.

Let me be clear: racism and antisemitism are rampant on *both* sides of the aisle.

Your twentysomething niece has fallen for the okie doke just as easily as your Boomer uncle.

Weren't they just using the lack of a competitive primary as their excuse to not vote for Harris last year?

Weird, I thought white ethnosocialists LOVED a bare-knuckle brawl of a primary. I can't qwhite put my finger on what changed in less than a year.

Things will stay stuck unless and until people reckon with why and how we got here *honestly.*

So far the self-distancing from the problem and "We'll Be Back/This is Not Us/Lets Sue Our Way Out of Authoritarianism" Juice is beating y'all's asses.

I promise the exceptionalism won't help.
