This is why my house is filled with dumb stuff, and frustratingly some good dumb stuff is getting harder to find.

There is no way I'll download an app or connect my thermostat fridge or dishwasher to wifi.

I'd like to see upgrades to provide the capacity to get indoor cooling to residents, and maximum temperature for rental units before seeing AI data centers pop up like boils across the province that will aid in creating more heat dome events.

Thought if any city would eradicate all non complaint short term rentals, it would have been Montréal after the airbnb fire that killed 7.

The platforms & bad actor hosts will NEVER willingly remove non complaint listings. It has to be made easy to find, fine & shut down hosts who flaunt the rules

My first apt w utilities & renters ins was under 30% income. First home purchase didn't financially crush me

But I get this, likely I'd be spending money I don't have on dumb stuff too if the choice was
Struggle spending unsustainably w no future security & no fun
Or faster w fun added

I hope that's not for a long time then for you! I know how hard it is to find a good place.

I know one day we will relocate and already feel that dread of finding a home anywhere as good as this one each time I think of it. It took my entire life to live somewhere that felt safe and restorative.

With the % of the population that is neurodivergent or sensory sensitive in some way (TBI a big one) It baffles me that so many homes are so painfully sensory unfriendly

Homes w soothing lighting that keep neighbouring sounds, smells, vibrations OUT doesn't only benefit those on the spectrum either

If looking at strata property, ensure the fees can actually upkeep the building & the reserves are robust.

One thing though, Ontario condo owners may be paying in more, but the province is NOT free of under-funded condos.

PLEASE choose hotels, motels or inns. #housingcrisis is crushing ppl who cannot find homes to rent or buy because they are on AirBNB and VRBO. Locals simply cannot compete with STR income these properties earn!
