howard dean raised millions of individual donations while bucking the tide and standing up against the war. most democrats just go "gimme money" without actually saying anything.

Howard Dean made them realize they could raise funds from regular people by asking for small donations.

But the other reason for Dean's appeal was he had a message that mainstream Democrats weren't saying. They still don't seem to want to emulate that part.

what do i think would work? focusing on class and race and gender and with a particular focus on progressive-leaning politics that appeal to a large majority of americans, centered around a campaign using MODERN communications. but nobody wants to bother with that.

sanders has this idea that making a class-based appeal is a silver bullet, and he can essentially ignore racism and misogyny. meanwhile the mainline dems are obsessed with the idea of flipping republicans.

both avenues are bad.
