That was all from the deli case except the meat which was pre-marinated & I cooked it. I wanted spinach and those little potatoes from the deli case but they didn’t have them :(

H-mart dinner! I have no idea if these are supposed to be eaten together but we enjoyed it all. Bulgogi, rice, braised lotus root, braised black beans, pickled garlic greens, stir fried dried shrimp and pickled daikon. Not shown: pickled parilla leaves which we used to scoop up the meat and rice.

that's exactly why we started going to Li Ming's in Durham. Early on when grocery delivery was hard to get, they were the only store we felt comfortable going to. Then I started learning how to cook Chinese food & we already knew them as a good resource

I wouldn’t say my trip was restrained but other than that one thing I stuck to my shopping list. It was a very long list :)

It was intense but it was great! I only bought one perishable (shishito peppers) that I’m not sure how I’m going to use them, feel very proud of myself for that :)

Li Ming is my go to. I cook Chinese food more often so they have almost everything I want day to day and since I go there often I know where everything is

H-mart shopping was a bit overwhelming, normally I go to a Chinese grocery near home that I know where everything is. Long drive too so I treated myself to a boba tea from a place next door to H-mart

I went to H-mart! It’s too far away for everyday shopping but I had a dr appt near there this morning. Wow that was intense. I bought snacks and pantry ingredients and prepared foods and I’ll be trying out Korean recipes for the next couple weeks!

I’m also vaxxed but I don’t know if he had covid or a cold. I thought for sure I was going to catch it, 15 hours in the same room! but it’s been 5 days & I’m fine. I used to see my inevitable post-election sickness as the cost of doing my civic duty. Thanks to masks it isn’t anymore.

I used to get really sick 2-3 days after election days. Coming into contact with that many people, it happened every time. This time another poll worker was sick. Hacking cough, sniffling & sneezing, the works. I wore a mask all day, he did too, and I didn’t get sick. Masks work y’all.

My cake turned out great! Well, the ganache broke but the cake itself is great. Next time I’d skip the ganache. The cake is rich enough, it doesn’t need it.

It is Nordic ware! I really loved this one but didn’t get it because I thought the shape would encourage cutting diagonal slices that would be wildly uneven, so I got the other. But I think this one would be easier to clean so maybe I should’ve 🤣
