This is what we’re up against
Not that much of an expert. Since the NHS own expert panel disagree.... ( Which btw is about 40 odd medical professionals)

Sometimes if you’re autistic your strengths and abilities can be used to condemn you; to a pattern of being misunderstood or not having your needs met because people decide you’re “high functioning”. #occupationaltherapy #autism

To be political for a minute, having worked in it for 6 years, I’d like to see the HSE be completely restructured and nationalised. It’s not fit for purpose, which is why I left it. This issue could be the one that determines if we have a United Ireland.
Maybe it’s the case that what Eno talks about in general is ALL THE MORE TRUE for us ND people. I’m not sure.
I’m really interested in how Brian Eno talks about surrender and control, but I wonder neurodivergent people’s experiences of these things needs a different kind of analysis. (I say this as an AuDHD person who immerses himself in Eno’s ambient spaces regularly.) youtu.be/uYyl37CKuCY?...

I like how Brian Eno talks about control and surrender, but I think for we autistic people something else is going on and our relationships to experiences involving control and surrender are different.
Yes this seems a great way of looking at it. And the big issue I find in needing to get through the laundry is the noise of the washer-dryer, the possible expense of using it, the time it takes to dry the clothes properly. It’s mind-scrambling.
Similarly, working from home I have done all the laundry. Interesting to wonder what’s going on for us neurologically when we do this, I think.
Really interesting analysis here.
Rigid thinking is not a universal autistic trait. In fact, some autistic people are more cognitively flexible than most nonautistic people.

So why is cognitive rigidity mentioned in the autism section of the DSM?

Here's my take...

So, to no surprise, 'brand new ABA' is still barely considering whether its goals are relevant to autistic people.
Sigh.

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.
I walk around with Reflection, an app by Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers, in my noise cancelling headphones. After years of use I find it familiar and grounding. The sound bank it draws on is not as beautiful as some of Eno’s other work (Thursday Afternoon, or Lux), but it works well. Good at home too.

Two years ago today, I was honoured to receive my MBE for services to neurodivergent people and those with joint hypermobility conditions and Ehlers-Danlos syndromes.

This moment was not just personal but a milestone for our community. Since then,
Great way to put it!
Neurodiversity is NOT “we’re all a little bit…”
Neurodiversity is NOT a new fad.
Neurodiversity is NOT one size fits all.

Neurodiversity IS the fact that brains come in many flavours.

Society was made for vanilla.
Some of us are pistachio, rum raisin or chilli chocolate.
#Neurodiversity #inclusion
This one stung! (Followed partly out of solidarity with your work being plagiarised, and also in knowledge you are a great bunch of lads.)
Looks good!

Here are some light boxes in action.
You can stick your nose deep into the concave bell glass and inhale deeply. I often try it in department stores. But it contains the smell too (in case it bothers others). Here’s the one I use at home (lit in this case).
I’ve been focusing on localising light and sound sources a providing means to dampen light and sound. I also try to aim for neutral smelling spaces, but I totally appreciate the appeal of nice interesting smells. A True Grace scented candle (unlit) under a cloche works great when you lift the cloche
My conviction is that environments should be easily adaptable to suit the individuals who inhabit them’s needs. It’s not about aesthetic judgement as it is about adaptability and accessibility.
