Not sure deep but thinking.
It was pretty cool. Evening Petal.🌑
My Old Friend even after double hikes,
Up and ready to go.
Breakfast, a wait for John’s coffee,
Out the door into the growing somber morn!
A day of log retreads,
Knew exactly where they were.
Carried them off to new hidey places.
Back in his bed first nap of the day!
Trip up Island to walk the trails,
Askum a search for different logs,
and I to smell the ocean, enjoy the bright day!
Lobster boat picking up traps,
Gull contending with a crab.
Long beach edges covered in seaweed,
forest floors a carpet of turning leaves.
And a quiet sit!
John’s Splinters: Yesterday skies, blue wind swept cirrus, then the dark clouds arrived late! Morning spectacular, heavens filled with streaks of pinks, roses. Quickly smudged out by low hanging stratus. Juncos, Robins in masses. 53ºF headed to 58. Ya’ll be careful out there.

I'm gonna stay with the bison theme for one more day! If you ever get a chance to visit Yellowstone National Park in winter, do so. It can be otherworldly. One huge snow #scape.

Askum, with the longer dark,
Now needs out as we get up!
Can’t say I blame him!
He returns quickly to eat,
get his missed scratch,
then is ready to head out again.
In early dark, he hit the woods,
finding logs to carry,
quick hiding, the off searching again!
Life has become so much slower.
Time to rest and take stock of where I am.
Figure out how to deal, enjoy, and plan the rest of my days.
Not wanting to, but also how to handle the time , when Askum is no longer with me!
Perhaps begin a bucket list,
and expand my senses!
John’s Splinters: Dawn, gray skies, mist on water, Sun parting the gray, blue spots appearing. Clear night skies, Stars bright! Yesterday, cool, light wind, baby blue skies. New birds at feeders, White-throated Sparrows in droves. 42ºF headed to 58. Ya’ll be careful out there.
My Old Friend was thrilled with his morning scratch.
Seems I could have enjoyed the same.
Out in the early near dark,
soon sun found openings in the trees.
Another Day of the Log,
Each time I turned around a new one was presented.
He was in his element, cold crisp, and outside.
Weather seems in an upheaval,
First clear skies, by afternoon;
clouded, then clearing night.
Seas and pond still,
then bang, waves and chop!
Next day totally different,
Keeping the mind and soul alive.
New birds passing by, or moving in.
Each days walk, a surprise!
John ’s Splinters! Nearly 8 before sun touched tree tops, warming on chill morn’ Yesterday down to the Sea, seals, cormorants enjoying high tide. Clear night an Big Dipper.

Lots and lots here Petal.
Like him, what the hell is wrong with Mt.
For me too. Hope it is not a hard winter. Don't like the moisture.
Askum needed out early in to blustery morn!
Quickly back for breakfast.
It was a day of logs!
roamed the woods, trotting even.
Seven logs collected,
Six of them buried along the way.
Last one carried home to hide in the ferns.
Just seemed better in the cold!
Hard on Napping.
Each day is a marvelous gift,
Waking to Ma Nature’s beauty,
ever changing weather,
and incredible wild life!
Not to mention good friends!
Plus each day I have an old buddy,
who puts a smile on my face,
and joy in my soul.
