I made a comic for EnterVOID's Kaiju Crash tournament! As they say: "The moon haunts you!" Very proud of the result.

4 days left for any artists looking to apply to We've Always Been Here! 💕

Here's a more detailed post on our mission and the book's theme:
We're tired of LGBTQ+ content being censored.

Tired of people pretending that being queer or trans is a new "fad", and not something that’s existed, perfectly naturally, for as long as people have been around.

Check out our mission, and join us in fighting censorship. 🏳️‍🌈
⬇️
Rainbow stripes with a white text box over it, and an image below of a person holding the intersectional pride flag over their back. The text box reads: "As a team of two trans (Sapling is nonbinary and Felix is two-spirit!) husbands, we’ve felt exhausted online lately, with censorship closing in on us all. Queer content is being banned, restricted, under fire, and we’re sick of it. So we’re creating something offline, a physical art book, a collaborative community project. Something to give us all hope. Something to connect us through our many cultures, all across the world. With our first zine, “We’ve Always Been Here,” we aim to show just this: that we’ve always been a part of history, and we’ll always be a part of the future too." Rainbow stripes with a white text box, and an image below of two Black men getting close, with one kissing the other on the cheek. The text box reads: "'We’ve Always Been Here' focuses on the 'unseen' queer history of the world. There’s plenty of names we all know of real people who have made their mark: Marsha P. Johnson, Alan Turing, Audre Lorde, Oscar Wilde, Frida Kahlo, and many, many more. But what about those that didn’t ‘go down in history’? What about the woman down the street from your great grandmother, who lived with her ‘best friend’ for decades until she passed? What about the medieval king who kept his lover secret his whole life? What about the cowboys who used the wide, open ranges with no one else around to keep their relationships a secret?" Rainbow stripes with a white textbox, and below are three circular images of two Korean women walking together, two African men laughing as they talk, and two Indian women chatting and laughing. The text box reads: "Our zine focuses on this, on the everyday people that no one knew about, that no one wrote about. The people that modern society wants to pretend never existed. LGBTQ+ people just living their lives, throughout all of history and all of the world. We want to show one simple thing to the world with this collaborative zine: We’ve always been here. And we always will be." Rainbow stripes with a white text box, and below is a colorful image from a pride parade, with rainbow flags waving high into the sky. The text box reads: "How to support our mission. Share us on social media! @TaplingZines on BlueSky, Instagram, and Tumblr. Join our email list! Sign up form at taplingzines.carrd.co And tell all your friends!"

Atlantic weasel shark

(Swim On 8, 2022) #art #sciart 🎨🦑🦈
Illustration of an Atlantic weasel shark in a muted cool grey ocean showing off the distinct yellow stripes that extend lengthwise along its body from a point on their snout. Light streams in through the water's surface, causing caustic refractions along the back of the shark and seafloor.
I'm endeared to old man Bubsy, I admit it

“We HIGHLY recommend keeping Miniature Dunkleosteus in their own tank, or with larger animals. These miniature carnivores will almost always attempt to eat any tankmates that are smaller than themselves."

It’s really hard to describe to people who are not artists how survival mode does *not* inspire creativity, as the myth would have us believe. It suppresses creativity as you try to limit every possible risk – and the opportunities that come with them.
It turns out building habits and stuff actually requires not being in survival mode, who knew?!
(Yeah yeah I did)

One kind of person that drives me insane is an art snob. I can't stand people who look down on beginner artists/ people who are just getting into art.

I LOVE following beginner artists because it's like going on a journey with them and I get to watch them grow. I LOVE watching people's art grow 💙
I played the Bubsy 4D demo
ok the voice acting is genuinely really charming
to the point i'm actively choosing to not skip it
Bubsy is weirdly charming as a washed old man trying to regain his bearings (and it's accurate in a meta sense too)
i like his little catlike mannerisms too [he's sitting like an actual cat]
from the tutorial, the gameplay is pretty smooth too
having to combine the different aerial maneuvers gives it an extra challenge i really like this whimsical jazz fusion music style the game's gone with
from playing this first level, the level design isn't as intuitive as something like, say, Mario which gives you subtle cues on how to progress
this feels more like there's different elements scattered around the map that you have to find yourself
at the same time, i don't think anyone was expecting that level of polish for a second
i know previous Bubsy games had fall damage though, so the lack of it is a welcome change of pace
the fact that this game manages to build sympathy for the generic bad guy aliens is crazy
some of Bubsy's lines are strangely relatable, and of course i can't help but be endeared to his abuse of puns ok wow the camera in this section [the latter half of level 1-3] is abysmal
i can tell this is gonna screw me over so many times
ok nvm it acted normally on my second attempt
does each death have a unique animation?? that's pretty cool
man i am not going nearly as fast as these levels want me to
ok yeah the stability of the camera is a major gamble in this section
finished the demo (after taking way too long)
while definitely not without faults, this level of charm and polish for a Bubsy game is absolutely wild
i'm baffled that Atari even considered this a worthy venture, but it paid off
and honestly, the more platformers we can keep alive, the better
as a big fan of them, i do wish we had more mainstays besides the big names like Mario, Sonic and Kirby
Growing up is realizing pink is a great color after all
Keep in mind I only turned 18 (thus being able to use PayPal, etc) in 2020, so this is only over the course of FIVE years.
Seriously, I've probably only spent around half of that on all of my other characters combined.
I roughly calculated how much I've spent on Orcina art and merch (though I had to go on memory for some, so the number may be slightly off).
$830... holy fuck. This is going to be in the thousands well before 2030
If you see this quote your favorite Pokémon
(Wrong answers only)
I've gotten several spam comments and DMs since making this post, but this is by far the strangest
I really don't like this "NPC people" mentality that's been popping up lately. This is objectively a manner of dehumanizing people, and history has shown countless times what a dangerous road that is.
