Brief introduction or rather reintroduction post for some…

Aanii. English name is Frances Elizabeth, Anishinaabe name translates to First Evening Star Woman. I’m Anishinaabe Kwe from Timiskaming First Nation (King family) and Scottish/Irish. Bear clan. I grew up largely urban in Tkaronto and /1
It’s amazing how when I put boundaries in place the response is to both play victim and say “block me” then tell me I’ll be muted when they came to *my* timeline and engaged in a problematic way.

Good fucking gods, can’t say I missed this kind of bullshit the last few weeks.
Oh I had a mango dessert like this in Paris and it was divine.
Respectfully, the majority of mass shooters at schools are young white men or white men if we broaden to mass shootings. The historic and current day data is there. Actively ignoring the root causes, warning signs or neglecting to take action (gun control) is a choice that has dire consequences.

“LED neon rope lights” yielded one with a remote where you can control colour and how it flashes that looks kinda interesting for 30$

The type of speech most punished in this society is that which consists of telling the truth about how the powerful have harmed you
I honestly believe they just mean the left in general. Sadly, I’m not sure they recognize there isn’t as much organizing as they think. Largely because the left seems to frequently cannibalize itself.
I need to go back to sleep. Sadly, I live near one of the city’s favourite strips for drag/street racing and have been hearing revving engines off and on for the last half hour.
So, this is concerning. We’re saying things that didn’t used to be said out loud rather loudly, no? The US falls more and more into fascism on the daily. But let’s just name this was already the plan. They’re just capitalizing on the event.
I’ve had this happen. Alternatively, I’ve received a singular banana. So, now in the comments/notes I add: “bunches, not singles. If you have questions please message” whenever I purchase.

I would process (peel) and freeze in ziplocs for smoothies or baked goods. And, give away the excess.
What a privileged to merely realize this and not experience/live it regularly. Sadly, this is not something many actually forget. Especially those who are considered to be from marginalized communities. More so those who are outspoken from and do advocation for said communities.
I shouldn't be shocked, but I'm still always brought up short to realize how many people think "civility" means "white people speaking in relatively calm voices" no matter what vile shit they say.
Thanks, I actually believe it or not read. And am reminded of why I actively chose to engage less here. But, I will say amazing you don’t connect those things to colonialism when I referenced it.

I don’t believe I’ll be engaging further.
Colonialism impacted far more than the women in Indigenous communities. I referenced white feminism as the Handmaids Tale is rife with it. White feminism centres white women and is not intersectional/is exclusionary. I look to our women as I’m from a matriarchal society who think of the collective.
Don’t take this the wrong way but the Handmaids Tale is a) fiction and b) centres white feminism. Respectfully, there’s women in my community who have lived through versions and variations of this and survived. That’s who I’ll take notes from.
I’m aware. This isn’t the first video I’ve seen.
Ah yes, seeing places/spaces I was at just two weeks ago in various clips of what’s going on in Paris, France is odd.
“I can’t stand the political violence of America! I’m going to France!”

France:
My niece lives in an apartment building and now gets packages mailed to aunties house a few blocks away to avoid thieves. She may have been happier I returned from vacation because she could resume shopping than the fact I was actually home 🤣
Respectfully, I have no “hot takes” I feel like sharing about Charlie Kirk’s death; however, after watching one day of the fall out of it I will say I am genuinely afraid of what comes next.
Oof. Well it’s even worse than I thought…
We are six months into the second Trump administration and the scale and severity of its assault on our nation's science and democracy has been unrelenting.

Fair. I was thinking of it from the point of view of him being so deeply entrenched in capitalism that ranking the tourism industry would have impacts.
Perhaps, but they’re also individuals who are deeply entrenched in capitalism. Tanking travel impacts capitalism in a huge way. And, ultimately will impact their bottom line.
I’ve ceased all travel to and through the US. And, so many others I know have done the same. Heck even the white folx I’ve spoken to are scared to travel to and/or through the US.

Canada has abandoned the path of reconciliation and nation-to-nation building in favour of a continuation of ruthless settler capitalism disguised as “elbows up” nationalism. This isn’t going to end well.
This seems counterproductive given there’s already been a stark decrease in tourism. This is going to have the opposite effect they’re trying to have. It will further deter people from travelling and negatively impact the economy.
