Did not expect one of the best paragraphs I’d read about baseball would come from an Irish newspaper

Hallelujah! Excellent coverage from SFN. Very many thanks. See you for Mai Tai's at the Port on launch day!
NG-2 is slated to launch Ireland's latest Mars Mission! OK, OK, NASA paid for it - but the Principal Investigator of the Escapade mission is Irishman Rob Lillis @ucbssl.bsky.social @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social . I'm hoping Rob will slap our flag on his space probe twins 😜 tinyurl.com/UCBSSL

Whiling-my-time-away as I wait for the New Glenn 2 hot fire test, I come across this stunning scene from the NG-1 hot fire. Auld joke was that half the tourists on the beach would watch the Canaveral Light waiting for it to lift off. Wouldn't make that mistake now!
What is the timestamp on these images, Niall. I'm trying to work out illumination that would fit the unusual bright line (probably low angle sun striking along the side of the cylinder)
This remarkable image from Athy, Ireland, shows the Falcon 9 upper stage itself as it vents fuel. These ventings are common, but seeing the rocket stage isn't. Pic by award-winning snapper @niallcarsonpa.bsky.social (not attributed @news.rte.ie 😠) tinyurl.com/RTEspaceX

Is breá liom an leagan digiteach gan smál de "The Last Waltz" anocht. Is beagnach ealaíontóirí Ceanadacha iad na chéad 45 nóiméad 😉

Absolutely loving the flawless digital version of "The Last Waltz" on @tg4.bsky.social tonight. The first 45 mins is almost totally Canadian artists 😉
@irishdefenceforces.bsky.social Casement Aerodrome is on the very edge of the KH-7 image. Named a year before this pic after Irish nationalist Roger Casement, executed for treason by the British in 1916. Queen Elizabeth II landed at Casement in May 2011, to begin her state visit to Ireland.
Three wks after this pic, a teenage riot took place at Dublin Airport when singer Dickie Rock landed. Gardaí linked arms and struggled to contain the surging mob of 1,000 over-excited young people, twenty of whom were taken to hospital. Is that a DC-8 on the apron?
Stillorgan Shopping Centre was the first shopping centre in Ireland. It opened on December 1, 1966.
Croke Park was preparing for the Aiséirí Pageant, April 12-15, a theatrical production, directed by Thomas MacAnna, to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1916 Rising. A cast of around 800 performers reenacting scenes from Ireland’s struggle for independence.
The resolution is extraordinary - a decade before we talked about reading number-plates. I can see my suburban home, and the distinctive Cyprus boundary trees. (Toggle >transparency< in the lower right to explore more)
This remarkable spy satellite image of Dublin was taken a week before Ireland began to change (very, very slowly) forever. The "Bishop and the Nightie" controversy in February 1966 was a landmark moment.

A lovely woman. I met her at JPL. The 1st. time, US colleagues were beside themselves with excitement as she entered the newsroom. She chatted with me and was thoroughly charming - even though it must have been obvious I hadn't a clue who she was. @elakdawalla.bsky.social explained all later!
I don't post on politics. But I do post on beer. 😜
@nytimes.com obviously haven't watched the fantastic Lupin series @netflix.com . Without knowing Arsène Lupin, no-one will ever understand the heist @museelouvre.bsky.social
To my Irish eyes, this image says two interesting things about our own solar system: 1) protoplanet WISPIT 2b [@58AU] is well within the Edgeworth Belt. 2) Ring 0 [@300AU] is nowhere near the Opik Cloud [2000AU] Discuss 😉 @dias.ie
Did *anyone* issue a TIP (Time of Impact Prediction) for this? @operations.esa.int
The German Broadcasting Association reacts with dismay and sadness to the attack on a media production company in the Gaza Strip, which works on behalf of ZDF, among others.

Chairman Mika Beuster: "Why the attack despite the ceasefire? And why were journalists targeted?" @nujofficial.bsky.social
Our understanding of the incredibly complex history of water on Mars is changing rapidly: stuff that seemed very obvious a few short years ago, isn't. This is called science.
