2024 is almost over, so here's a couple of the cool things I've had the honor of working on this year! In no particular order --

Yep. Probably the most shocking imo is Claire in REmake 2. The difference between the reveal trailer and the final game is wild, it doesn't even look like the same artstyle. Must've been from *incredibly* early in development.

A good thing to keep in mind when watching footage for upcoming games: the game is still in development, and subject to change! Capcom put out this new screenshot of Alyssa hugging Grace from the Gamescom trailer, with Alyssa's face changed to be more distraught (new vs original).

If you're interested in The Backrooms, Silent Hill, or really any surrealist horror, you owe it to yourself to at least watch this episode. All of Twin Peaks is worth watching of course, just even without context the finale is one of the best representations of nightmare logic ever put on screen.

Everything about James’ look is a very strange choice. If the script is good that’s ultimately the most important thing, just coming off of other recent game projects putting a lot more work into visual accuracy only to come back to a *very* 00s mentality is kinda whiplash inducing lol

Twin Peaks (original series) rewatch finished, god damn it’s even better than the first time. That finale is just… my god. Fear beyond the curtains. Just visceral, unfiltered, raw fear.

I get the feeling this'll be more or less like the first film (which I really like) in that it's sort of its own thing, loosely following the general gist of Silent Hill 2. I'm fine with that, as long as it results in a quality film -- just yeoof I can't believe how low budget it looks.

I'm fine with the movie taking liberties, but god damn does it look cheap as fuck. Really seems like it's gonna rest entirely on the shoulders of the script.

Akira's work is incredible and is a huge part of Silent Hill's success and legacy, the accolades he does and should receive for that are endless -- including being credited correctly without overstating his influence on the series' origins and sweeping away the work of the original writer/director.

Also, for whatever reason Akira Yamaoka is credited as "Creator of Silent Hill", which is completely false. If anyone can be called that it's Keiichiro Toyama. Idk if that's on Konami, Davis Films, or IGN, but that's really shitty to do.

I like the art direction a lot, looks flashier than the other two films and feels like it's taking a more impressionistic route. Akira's new tracks sound great too, super excited to get more music from him.

..also this movie looks *unbelievably* cheap, maybe the worst green screen I've ever seen.

On top of all the other things to be excited about with RE9, I genuinely can’t wait to hear the credits song. With a title and narrative theme as heavy as “requiem” you just KNOW it’s gonna go hard.
